New York Times bestselling author Chris Bohjalian's world premiere stage adaptation of his novel MIDWIVES is set to kick off 2020 in George Street Playhouse's new home at the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center. Performances begin tonight (Tuesday) at 8 pm, with the official Opening Night this Friday, January 24th.

West Side Story star, Isaac Powell, will rejoin the cast of the Broadway revival this evening following a knee injury that sidelined the actor, causing the production to postpone its opening night by two weeks. 

Loosely based on the 1957 memoir of famous striptease artist Gypsy Rose Lee, “Gypsy” tells the story of the dreams and efforts of one hungry, powerhouse of a woman to get her two daughters into show business. Gypsy includes some of Broadway's most beloved songs, including 'Everything's Coming Up Roses,' 'Let Me Entertain You,' and 'You Gotta Get a Gimmick.' Producers Scott Rudin / Barry Diller / David Geffen announced today that the Broadway return of the Jerome Robbins / Arthur Laurents / Leonard Bernstein / Stephen Sondheim musical, West Side Story, has once again broken the all-time Broadway Theatre house record for a single week, with a gross of $1,807,025.94. In 7 performances the previous week, West Side Story broke the record (with a gross of $1,497,319) held by Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella ($1,479,889.97, established on 12/29/13, for an 8-performance week).

BroadwayWorld has learned that the highly anticipated Broadway revival of WEST SIDE STORY will be pushing back its opening night from the previously announced Feb. 6, 2020 until two weeks later on Feb. 20.
