Danielle Brooks will receive the Breakthrough Performer Award at Hollywood Creative Alliance's Astra Film Awards. Comedian Rick Glassman will host the ceremony, which will be internationally broadcast on ABS-CBN in 247 countries and territories.

Actor Ricardo P Lloyd is to explore the barriers faced by black performers in theatre, television and film as part of a documentary on BBC Radio 4, according to The Stage.

Tonight, the NAACP kicked-off night one of the 53rd NAACP Image Awards announcing the first round of winners in the non-televised award categories, which included literary, podcast, and youth activist of the year awards.
