Luke recently led Conor McPherson’s adaption of Paweł Pawlikowski’s Cold War at the Almeida Theatre. Other London theatre includes: Patriots (West End); Leopoldstadt (West End); the Pinter at the Pinter season (West End); The Inheritance (Young Vic); Camp Siegfried; Present Laughter (The Old Vic); After Life (National Theatre); Cock (Chichester Festival Theatre); Albion and Patriots (Almeida Theatre). Upcoming: Luke will play Hamlet for the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2025. Awards include: Clarence Derwent (Leopoldstadt) and an Evening Standard Award nomination (Albion). Luke was listed in The Stage’s ‘25’ as one of the top theatre makers of the future. Training: Guildhall.

Theatre is, of course, a window on another world, often glitzier and brighter than our own, sometimes a reflection that can comfort or discomfit us and sometimes a portal into what it is to be human at all. It is an escape - and who can deny that we need such refuges more than ever - but it can be so much more than mere escapism. The best theatre of 2025 made those lofty promises - and kept them.

Warwick Davis has been cast as Professor Filius Flitwick in HBO's Harry Potter series, marking his homecoming to the wizarding world in a role he originated for the film series. The series has also cast several other roles, including Tony Award winner Bríd Brennan as Madam Poppy Pomfrey.

What do Shakespeare and James Cameron have in common? Before Rupert Goold took hold of the Bard’s tragic masterpiece, the answer would have been ‘nothing’. The soon-to-be artistic director of the Old Vic returns to the Royal Shakespeare Company after 14 years to offer a blockbuster Hamlet. Elsinore becomes a royal battleship and everything happens in less than one night in April 1912. Goold makes some daring choices, placing a lot of faith in his public and letting them interpret and assume certain twists in his vision.
