Ford Theatres presents an immersive experience: Last Whispers - Oratorio for Vanishing Voices, Collapsing Universes and a Falling Tree, on Friday, June 14 at 8:00pm. Last Whispers is simultaneously a spatially-designed sound composition and a film -- an invocation of languages that have gone extinct and an incantation of those that are endangered.
LA Philharmonic's Composer Fellowship Program Announces Class Of 2017-2018

Four high school-age students will compose works to be premiered by the Los Angeles Philharmonic at Walt Disney Concert Hall in March 2018. The Los Angeles Philharmonic has been premiering works by high school composers for the last decade through the Nancy and Barry Sanders Composer Fellowship Program (CFP). The new works will be performed by the LA Phil during Toyota Symphonies for Youth concerts, a series created especially for children age five to eleven, on March 24 and March 31.

At the turn of the 20th century, artistic representations of American Indians, cowboys and cavalry, pioneers and prospectors, and animals of the plains and the mountains served as visual metaphors for the Old West and, as such, were collected eagerly by an urban-based clientele. Through some 65 bronze sculptures by 28 artists, the traveling exhibition The American West in Bronze, 1850–1925, opening at The Metropolitan Museum of Art onDecember 18, will explore the aesthetic and cultural impulses behind the creation of statuettes with American western themes so popular with audiences then and now. It is the first full-scale museum exhibition devoted to the subject and brings together examples from public and private collections nationwide.
