Sandra Bernhard is an American actress, comedian, singer, and writer who has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry with her unique style and sharp wit. Born in Flint, Michigan in 1955, Bernhard grew up in a Jewish family and began performing in local theater productions at a young age.

After attending college in Arizona, Bernhard moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in show business. She quickly gained attention for her one-woman shows, which combined stand-up comedy, music, and performance art. In 1985, she made her Broadway debut with her show "Without You I'm Nothing," which was later adapted into a film of the same name.

Bernhard's success on stage led to a number of film and television roles, including appearances in "The King of Comedy" (1982), "Roseanne" (1991-1997), and "American Horror Story" (2011-2018). She also released a number of albums throughout the 1990s, showcasing her talents as a singer and songwriter.

In addition to her work in entertainment, Bernhard has been an outspoken advocate for LGBTQ rights and other progressive causes. She has also been a frequent guest on political talk shows and news programs, offering her unique perspective on current events and social issues.

Bernhard's most recent work includes her 2019 show "Quick Sand," which she performed at Joe's Pub in New York City. She continues to tour and perform, bringing her signature blend of comedy and music to audiences around the world.
