Ryan O’Connor is an actor, writer and director based in Los Angeles with significant theatre credits in New York City and London.
His first prominence on the theatre scene was his solo show Ryan O’Connor Eats His Feelings which landed him on The Oprah Winfrey Show and lead to a successful Off-Broadway run. His follow up show, Eat, Pray, Vote was a rousing success in Los Angeles and New York.
Ryan was one of the stars of the Broadway aimed musical Home Street Home by NOFX’s Fat Mike, Avenue Q’s Jeff Marx and legend Soma Snakeoil.
Ryan was featured on HBO’s Big Little Lies as Brian in the Avenue Q scenes and has a cult following for his singular line in the film School of Rock as the only fan of the band that beats the kids.
Ryan has established himself as a director in Los Angeles with multiple hit productions of new and existing works, notably A Little Night Music, In Trousers, Jimmi Darkness: Alcoholic Superhero and Menagé à Quatre at the Los Angeles LGBTQ Center.
Ryan was one of the stars of Scissorhandz from its inception in Los Angeles and then made his London debut with the show’s major transfer.
In 2024 Ryan premiered his play The Cowards, an adaptation of Noël Coward’s Hay Fever, with two extremely well received industry readings featuring Katrina Lenk, Brandon Uranowitz, Veanne Cox, Alexandra Billings, Charlie Barnett, Ari Notartomaso, George Salazar and Marissa Jaret Winokur.
