BWW Interview: Todd Schroeder's YOUNG ARTISTS' GRANT Benefit Concert Returns to Sonora High School

This year's graduating seniors have had anything but a normal high school experience and the past two years have taught them resilience, flexibility, and grace. Undoubtedly, they deserve a bit of celebration for their tenacity and courage. Luckily for students at Sonora High School, Todd Schroeder is back after a five-year hiatus to raise money for the Todd Schroeder Young Artists' Grant to benefit young graduates going into the arts. Todd himself is a graduate of Sonora High School who went on to a successful career as a pianist, composer, and music director. Since 1995, Todd has been giving back to the community with this grant. This year boasts an impressive lineup of celebrities, such as Jason Alexander of Seinfeld fame. Broadway World spoke to Todd about his organization and what we can look forward to at this year's benefit concert that will be happening in Sonora on April 30.

Westport Country Playhouse to Host Playreading of DOT

Westport Country Playhouse will present a Script in Hand playreading of the comedy/drama about mid-life crises and aging parents, “Dot,” written by Colman Domingo, star of AMC’s “Fear the Walking Dead,” and directed by Q. Smith, on Monday, March 14, at 7 p.m. The live performance will be captured on film for on-demand streaming, from Thursday, March 17 through Sunday, March 20. Craft Recordings Announces 'The Memphis Masters'

Craft Recordings is thrilled to announce The Memphis Masters—a limited video series celebrating various albums from the iconic Stax Records label, showcasing its enduring musical legacy, as well as its influence on Memphis, TN. Created in partnership with Memphis Record Pressing and Memphis Tourism, and directed by Andrew Trent Fleming of TheFilmJerk Media, the multi-part series was shot in several locations around the city—also known as the home of blues, soul and rock 'n' roll—including such historic landmarks as Sam Phillips Recording Service, Royal Studios and the Stax Museum of American Soul Music. With interviews spanning multiple generations of artists, The Memphis Masters offers insight from the likes of Robert Trujillo (Metallica), Grace Potter, Matt Berninger (The National), Walshy Fire (Major Lazer), Steve Selvidge (The Hold Steady) and producer Boo Mitchell—all of whom were inspired by the label's music and the albums being reissued. The Memphis Masters also includes interviews with Stax legends like Steve Cropper, Big Star's Jody Stephens, James Alexander (the Bar-Kays) and Booker T. Jones, plus longtime label publicist Deanie Parker and songwriter Bettye Crutcher, who share their memories from the label's heyday.

AN EVENING WITH RITA COOLIDGE Announced At The Ellen Theatre

To celebrate The Ellen's 100th anniversary, the theatre presents AN EVENING WITH RITA COOLIDGE. A double Grammy Award winner, Ms. Coolidge graces the Ellen stage October 12 at 8 PM, sharing songs and stories from her fabulous career including a gold record James Bond theme and hits from her chart-topping albums.

Featuring world-class composer Eric Funk, over 40 regional musicians perform some of The Beatles' greatest hits, including  a?oeHey, Judea??, a?oeLet it Bea??, a?oeNorwegian Wooda??, and many more. In celebration of The Ellen's 100th anniversary, all of the musicians are donating their time and talents for this fundraiser, with 100% of ticket sales going to the theatre. Eric Funk - With a Little Help from My Friends takes place Saturday, October 5 at 3 PM. Tickets are $44.50 for adults, and $37.50 for MSU students.
