Goodspeed Musicals announced today that it will produce the world premiere of Christmas in Connecticut – A New Musical this holiday season at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, Conn.

BroadwayWorld has just learned that Romy and Michele, previously titled Romy and Michele's High School Reunion, will get a workshop next week, starring Cortney Wolfson (Romy), Stephanie Renee Wall (Michele), Jordan Kai Burnett (Heather Mooney), and Hannah Schuerman (Toby Walters).

SISTER ACT, the Musical, the Tony Award nominated show based on the 1992 Touchstone Pictures hit film of the same name, features music written by eight-time Academy Award, seven-time Golden Globe, 11-time Grammy Award and Tony Award-winning composer, Alan Menken, with lyrics by Glenn Slater and Book by Cheri Steinkellner and Bill Steinkellner, with additional book material by Douglas Carter Beane, The musical was originally directed by Peter Schneider. The musical will be coming to CASA 0101 Theater, 2102 East First Street (at St. Louis Street), Boyle Heights, CA 90033, April 19 - May 19, 2019. According to the Hollywood Reporter, producers Peter Schneider and Elisabetta di Mambro have acquired the rights to to create a stage version of Sara Gruen's Water for Elephants. Schneider told THR: 'I have loved Sara Gruen's Water for Elephants since it was first published and was captivated by its theatricality. It is so dramatic - a woman who is trapped in a relationship for all the wrong reasons meets and falls in love with a man for all the right reasons. Throw in an elephant as a matchmaker and you have the potential for a show of great imagination and emotional depth.'
