Matthew Forbes

BIO


Matthew works internationally as a Performer and Director, with a strong focus on Puppetry, Object Manipulation and Physical Theatre. He originally trained as an Actor at the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama, specialising in Collaborative & Devised Theatre.

Matthew has worked on productions of War Horse around the world across an eight-year period, most recently as the Associate Movement Director for the Holland & Belgium Tour 2014-2016, prior to that he was the Associate Puppetry Director for UK, Ireland & South African Tour 2013-2015, as well as working for the production in America, Australia, Berlin, China and New Zealand. Before joining the Creative Team, Matthew appeared in the show for three years; totaling over 1000 performances in London’s West End.

Other recent Directing credits include, Holes (Nottingham Playhouse), Babe The Sheep-Pig (Polka Theatre, National Tour, Australian Tour), Dinner at the Twits (Les Enfants Terribles, The Vaults), The Witches (Dundee Rep), Adventures in Wonderland (Les Enfants Terribles, The Vaults), Kiki’s Delivery Service (Southwark Playhouse) and The Steadfast Tin Soldier (The Little Angel Theatre & The Old Vic).
Recent Acting credits include: Kiki’s Delivery Service (Southwark Playhouse); The Wizard of Oz (UK Tour); The Witches (Dundee Rep); Alice’s Adventures Underground (Les Enfants Terribles); War Horse (National Theatre/New London Theatre); War Horse- The Prom (Royal Albert Hall); Beauty & the Beast (Dundee Rep); Permission to Play (Shakespeare's Globe); Boy A (Embassy Studios); Midsummer Night’s Dream (The Embassy Theatre).

Matthew also voices a leading role in the popular Disney Animation series, Boyster. Other voice work includes: The Fashion Priest (MyDaily); SoulBoy (Soda Pictures); & Snap (MTV).

TV & Film credits include: Robin Hood (BBC/Tiger Aspect); Hot Fuzz (Working Title Films); The Silent Cormorant (Passion Pictures).
