Mara Jill Herman’s performances have been noted as “delightfully lustful,” “hilarious,” “charming,” “sassy,” “steamy” and “rich with style and flare.” She is equally at home in contemporary works such as RENT (Maureen), BABY (Lizzie), ALL SHOOK UP (Miss Sandra) and golden classics ON THE TOWN (Hildy), LOVE’S LABOUR’S LOST (Maria), and GUYS AND DOLLS (Adelaide). Developmental highlights include THE BAND’S VISIT (Hebrew Singer, Playwrights Horizons) and SAM’S ROOM (Mrs. Fischer, Theatre Barn’s Impact Award).

Mara’s solo career encompasses intimate rooms in New York City (Feinstein's/54 Below, Metropolitan Museum of Art) to international productions including BOB MACKIE’S BROADWAY and DISNEY ON CLASSIC (Mother Gothel) with the Orchestra Japan. She offers her keen ear and expert harmonizing as an Alto in AMERICA’S SWEETHEARTS, The Andrews Sisters vintage-inspired group.

As a writer, content creator, and event producer Mara enriches, entertains, and cultivates community. She co-authored SO YOU WANNA BE A SUPERSTAR? THE ULTIMATE AUDITION GUIDE and contributed to MUSICAL THEATER TODAY, VOL. 3. Her satiric videos have been hailed as “perfection,” “very versatile,” and “absolutely spectacular.” Mara celebrates underrepresented and Jewish artists through benefit concerts STRONGER THAN HATE and CHANGEMAKERS.

An environmental advocate, Mara’s Digital Membership Proposal (Eastern Regional Membership Meeting, ACTORS’ EQUITY ASSOCIATION) received an 82% approval rating and resulted in the virtual card rollout. Passionate about gender parity in the arts, she is a founding member/Regional Coordinator for STATERAARTS MENTORSHIP.

Mara is an alumna of YOUNGARTS and received the Young Alumni Service Award from UNIVERSITY OF THE ARTS.

She resides in Astoria, New York.
