Jennifer Apple, Drew Elhamalawy & More to Lead THE BUBBLE Industry Reading

On Tuesday, March 28th, two private industry presentations will be held in New York City for The Bubble, a new musical based on the acclaimed Israeli film of the same name.

The Bubble tells the story of Noam, a disillusioned Israeli soldier, and Ashraf, a closeted Palestinian man, who fall in love amidst the bohemian energy of 2000s-era Tel Aviv, with the tragic conflict between their people as the backdrop. Based upon the popular film by Eytan Fox and Gal Uchovsky, this explosive new musical by Janine McGuire and Arri Lawton Simon pulses with energy, urgency, and hope for a more peaceful world.

Director Joe Barros (New York Theatre Barn, Gigi) leads a cast of 11 including Jennifer Apple (The Band's Visit), Shira Averbuch ("Am I Beautiful?"), Yair Ben-Dor (Prayer for the French Republic), Drew Elhamalawy (Sticks & Stones), Mara Jill Herman (We Are Here: Songs From The Holocaust), Diego Lucano (School of Rock), Danny Kornfeld (Harmony), Ahmad Maksoud (The Band's Visit), Sahar Milani (Hound Dog), Louis Sallan (Emma-Guthrie), and Bryce Colby Vaewsorn (Escape to Margaritaville). Music Director Andy Roninson (Soviet Rebel Girl) leads a six-piece band. General Management is by Tom Smedes and Heather Shields of Clearview Theatricals.

The Bubble has been developed/incubated at The BMI Musical Theatre Workshop, The Dramatists Guild Foundation Fellowship, Goodspeed Musicals, The Johnny Mercer Writers Grove, New York Theatre Barn, Rhinebeck Writers Retreat, and The York Theatre, and has received honors from The Kurt Weill Foundation, NAMT, The O'Neill NTMC, The Relentless Award, and a concert presentation in 54 Below's New Writers series. The Bubble was formerly developed under the title Borders.
