Leah Loftin

BIO

Leah Loftin is a New York-based actor and director, whose performance was named “fearless” by The New York Times. Formally trained with the Moscow Art Theatre (MXAT) at A.R.T., Loftin has performed theatrically Off-Broadway and throughout the US, Canada, and Russia. She was selected for an extended performance residency in Moscow with the acclaimed Russian theatre company SounDrama, and was an original cast member of the world premiere of the previously unpublished play by Tennessee Williams, Mister Paradise. Loftin recently guest starred on The Blacklist (NBC) and New Amsterdam (NBC), and will be seen next in the upcoming limited series The Green Veil, starring John Leguizamo. With an emphasis on devised/physical theatre of new and classical plays, Loftin has been a proud member of theatre companies in both NYC and New Orleans. She was recently named an “Emerging Director to Discover” by SHOOT Magazine.

Coming to the New Orleans Fringe Festival this year is a piece that is sure to capture the attention of local theatre supporters. New York City/Toronto based theatre company GOGOL ANNEX is bringing their show ANTEBELLUM to Mardi Gras Zone this weekend. Leah Loftin of GOGOL ANNEX explained that their theatre company is inspired by a lot of the work that they have done with theatre in Russia, and that their pieces are very experimental and based on historic people and events. "It's very progressive. We have a couple of pieces in development, and ANTEBELLUM is one of them. We work a lot with historical texts and historical characters. Right now we're really interested in these kinds of pockets, specifically history and stories that haven't necessarily been told," says Loftin.

An original adaptation of Dostoevsky's Demons, ...the itsy bitsy spider... is conceived and directed by the internationally renowned director Alexandre Marine, and is performed by the members of the New York-based company Studio Six of the Moscow Art Theatre.
