Goodman Theatre announces its next Future Labs reading: Cephianne's Reflection by Mallory Raven-Ellen Backstrom, directed by Wardell Julius Clark. The second offering (of six workshops and presentations anticipated) of Future Labs' second season, Backstrom's new play is penned in homage to an American dialect and colorful culture found on the Sea Islands off the coast of Georgia—where the descendants of slaves learned how to turn pain into power.

Sideshow Theatre Company's longtime artistic director Jonathan L. Green announced he will step down this fall after helming the company for 13 years. Green will be succeeded by ensemble member and artistic director elect Regina Victor, with ensemble member Justin J. Sacramone serving as the company's associate artistic director. Green will continue his work with Sideshow as an artistic company member.

Sideshow Theatre Company is pleased to present a one-night-only streaming revival of its 2018 hit Tilikum on Friday, June 19 at 7 pm CDT, a benefit for the #LetUsBreathe Collective in honor of Juneteenth and the Black Lives Matter movement, and in solidarity with the protests in Chicago and around the world for an end to State-sponsored violence against Black bodies. The presentation will include remarks and conversation with some of the artists who created it.
