John Davidson Biography
John has been entertaining audiences for over 50 years, starting when he made his Broadway debut in Foxy, starring Burt Lahr. He would later win a Theatre Guild Award for playing Curly in the Broadway revival of Oklahoma! and would also star as Able Frake in State Fair. He has toured the US in multiple Broadway musicals (more than he can remember!) most recently playing The Wizard in Wicked and Captain Hook in Finding Neverland. In between musicals, his performances in the major showrooms of Las Vegas solidified him as one of America's foremost entertainers.John made his TV debut playing The Boy in The Fantasticks and co-starred with Sally Field in the TV series The Girl With Something Extra. From there he went on to host The Hollywood Squares, That's Incredible! and served as guest host of The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson (80 evenings, more than any other singer). In the movies, audiences remember him from the Disney films The Happiest Millionaire and The One And Only Genuine Original Family Band. He also appeared in Airport 80, Edward Scissorhands and The Squeeze.
Along the way John wrote a book, a play and with his wife Rhonda created the geography card game BORDERLINE USA. Most recently, John travels America as a traveling troubadour, singer, songwriter and storyteller with his stories, his original songs and his guitar. His intimate, up close performances are one-of-a-kind. CRT Downtown's in-the-round, cabaret-style venue is the perfect environment to seeing this legendary performer live.
