Valencia College 24th Annual Film Celebration To Highlight Student Work

On Saturday, April 13, Valencia College celebrates another year of student work with its 24th annual film celebration. Taking place at the new Film Production and Sound Technology Building on the college's East Campus, students and the general public are invited to view student-created short film projects and a feature film. New to this year's celebration, attendees can participate in production workshops led by students and faculty.

Dragonfly Studio & Productions will be hosting Tony Award winning producer and award winning director, Kenny Howard, in a 6 week acting intensive workshop starting March 28, 2019 for ages 15-25! This workshop will be the first of a quarterly series Dragonfly Studios will produce covering various fields of study in the performing arts and entertainment industries. Tuition is $200 and classes will be held on Thursdays from 7:00-9:00pm from March 28th through May 2nd at DRAGONFLY STUDIO 129 located 15 minutes from Downtown Orlando at 129 W McKey St, Ocoee, FL 34761. Theatre South Playhouse of Orlando announces it's production and auditions for 'BE MORE CHILL' the hit Off-Broadway musical that is heading to Broadway this February 2019. Theatre South Playhouse is amongst the very few Theatre Companies able to hold licensing for the show now that it's Broadway bound. Executive Director Hillary Brook tell us, 'Our teens have been begging us to do the show since the soundtrack first came out in 2015. We grabbed the rights last spring not knowing that the show would get so incredibly popular and head to Broadway.'

Five decades after The Band released "Music From Big Pink," The Weight Band is harnessing the solemn fire and fury of that landmark, groundbreaking and epic album with a live show that is timeless. The Weight Band originated in 2013 inside the famed Woodstock, New York barn of Levon Helm. Leading the charge are guitarist and vocalist Jim Weider of The Band and Levon Helm Band, and keyboard player Brian Mitchell of the Levon Helm Band. The entire ensemble channels the spirit of The Band while showcasing the talent of musicians who have played with some of the biggest names in the music industry.
