South Jersey ARTS FEST will be held at Appel Farm on Saturday and Sunday, June 2 and 3, 2018. This immersive arts festival will be experiential, hands-on, diverse, and is designed to attract new and returning visitors of all ages to Appel Farm for a day of community, music, food, wine, beer, and art-making in the South Jersey region.

"We are thrilled to present a new kind of festival in our region this year," said Cori Solomon, Appel Farm's Executive Director. "This event is for anyone who wants to experience transformative arts and culture in the beautiful setting of South Jersey."

Appel Farm invites thousands of people to attend with the theme: "Ignite Your Imagination!" The family-friendly event will include mainstage music performances including Brother Joscephus and the Love Revolution, Williams Honor and more; student-based music, theatre, choral and dance troupe performances from Mainstage Center for the Arts, Garden State Girlchoir and Boychoir, Trenton Music Makers, Speedway, and Jersey Cape Dance; hands-on Visual Arts, Performing Arts, and STEAM based workshops for all ages; crafters and artists; and gourmet food trucks, craft brew and premium wine. South Jersey ARTS FEST Highlights include:

  • "Art of Wine Making" where patrons over 21 can meet the winemaker of the Auburn Road Vineyards & Winery to learn how to blend wines and learn how the weather affects the growing season and tastes of the wine.

  • Regionally acclaimed musicians and performances on the main stage by foot stomping Brother Joscephus and the Love Revolution, Balkan brass band West Philadelphia Orchestra, singer-songwriter Joe Crookston, Asbury Park's favorite country duo Williams Honor, Groove Band Funkylicious, Blues, R & B, Pop band Adam Travis and the Soul, bluegrass & folk rockers The Yokels, Alborada Spanish Dance Theatre, Community Bollywood Dance Project, and spoken word and cooking duo Adobo Fish Sauce.

  • Visual Arts tent includes Mosaic Magic, Plein Air Painting, Origami Flowers, Sculptural Paper Relief, Letterpress Mini-Posters, Impressionist Painting, Glass Art Show with Salem Community College, and helping to refurbish the Appel Farm LOVE Mural. Chat with featured artists Antea Roberts and Joe Crookston as well.

  • Performing Arts Tent includes Songwriting 101, Community Drum Circle, One-String Guitar Virtuoso, Line Dance Fun, Silent Dance Party, Pass the Salt Tostones with Adobo Fish Sauce, Polynesian Dance Lesson, Limbo, Hula Hooping and Dance Contest, Dancing with Props: Hooping , Poi, Levi Wand with Hips of Fire Entertainment, Beginning Guitar, Silent Dance Party, Namaste Bollywood: An Interactive CBDP Dance Experience, Giant Puppet performance with Spiral Q Puppet Theater, Entertaining Participatory Performance with Riddlesbrood Touring Theatre Company and more!

  • STEAM Tent (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) includes Haiku Ginko Walk, Box of Questions, Strawberry DNA Extraction, Cyanotype: Chemistry & Light, Giant Robots, Makey Makey and Paint Pendulums with South Jersey Robotics, Macro-Invertabrate Display with South Jersey Land & Water Trust, and Screech Owl Display with Cohanzick Zoo.

  • Check out the Creativity CoLaboratory Charter School (C3) activities in the STEAM Tent. While kids participate in Send it to Space!-crafting messages about Earth through iPads and Boomwackers, parents will have an opportunity to talk with founding board members about this arts-integrated, STEAM based, 5th-8th grade middle school opening at Appel Farm in September, 2019.

  • Regional crafters, food vendors, beer from Flying Fish Brewing Company & wines from Auburn Road Vineyards & Winery.

  • Drop the kids off at the "Arts Camp Pop Up" where kids can experience the magic of Appel Farm's summer camp with Visual Arts activities, bounce house and outdoor fun, while under the caring supervision of camp counselors.

  • Overnight Experience gives families an opportunity to pitch a tent under the stars, enjoy a campfire, s'mores and private performance by singer-songwriter Joe Crookston.

  • South Jersey Cycling Tour for novice and experienced bicyclists on Sunday morning, June 3rd leaving at 9:00am to Auburn Road Vineyards & Winery in Pilesgrove. 8:30am Registration.
