Raoul Wallenberg's epic journey will be brought to life in a multi-media staged reading of Wallenberg, A New Musical Drama. The production will take place at Lynn University's Wold Center for the Performing Arts on February 12th and 13th only. With book and lyrics by the 2006 Kleban Award-winning team of Laurence Holzman and Felicia Needleman, and music by Benjamin Rosenbluth, Wallenberg, A New Musical Drama recounts the fascinating and uplifting story of one of the greatest heroes of the twentieth century.

City Theatre is now accepting submissions from South Florida playwrights through January 24, 2014 for new LGBT-themed short plays (up to 10 minutes) for its production of Shorts Gone Wild 2, co-produced with Island City Stage. Shorts Gone Wild 2 will take place from July 31 - August 31, 2014 at Empire Stage in Fort Lauderdale.

Sol Children Theatre, Evening Star Productions, and the companies' artistic director Rosalie Grant are not resting on any laurels. Grant, winner this year of the South Florida Theatre League's newly established Remy Award as the Outstanding Contributor to Children's Theatre, has two productions in the planned for February and March, and another ten in the works through December 2014.

Beth Henley's Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy Crimes of the Heart will open at the Broward Stage Door Theatre on January 17th, and run through February 23rd. Sometimes described as Hannah and Her Sisters with a Southern accent, Crimes of the Heart has often been named one of the finest plays in American Theatre. Along with the 1981 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, the play was awarded the 1981 New York Drama Critics' Circle Award for Best American Play, and the 1982 Theatre World Award.

On Saturday, January 11, 2014 the National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) will host the organization's first Backyard Ball Performance and Gala to be held at the YoungArts Campus (2100 Biscayne Boulevard). The 2014 Arison Award Honorees are Pritzker Award Winning architect Zaha Hadid and Academy Award Winning singer, dancer, and actress, Rita Moreno. This year's Alumni Honoree is actor, singer and 1997 YoungArts Winner in Theater, Andrew Rannells. The celebratory evening of artistic immersion will bring together prominent artists, community leaders, philanthropists and celebrities to recognize the 2014 YoungArts Winners. The gala is YoungArts' largest annual fundraiser and the culmination of YoungArts' signature program YoungArts Week which provides 171 of the nation's most outstanding young artists in the literary, performing, visual and design arts with life-changing experiences, including master classes, workshops, inter-disciplinary activities, performances and exhibitions.

In 2008, Mad Cat released its first MIXTAPE featuring a mix of new plays and films steeped in nostalgia. Now, six years later, Mad Cat is back with a new mix of plays and films, MIXTAPE 2: UMMAGUMMA FORZA ZUMA!, a theatrical stew that is very much embedded in the present. MIXTAPE 2: UMMAGUMMA FORZA ZUMA! is about having the right mixture of mojo needed to make it through a metamorphosis. This collection of new works features pieces by Jessica Farr, Elena Maria Garcia, Theo Reyna, Deborah L. Sherman, Andres Solorzano, Paul Tei, and Kristina Wong as well as new films by Molly Gandour, George Schiavone and Matt Corey, Karelle Levy and Michael Landsberg, Wet Sock Ensemble (Erik Fabregat, Ralph de la Portilla and Ted Chambers), and Darin Gray of the band On Fillmore.
