Photo Flash: First Look at SCOTT AND HEM at Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre

Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre presents Scott and Hem, a Florida premiere of a combative new play about the friendship and rivalry between literary heavyweights F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway, from May 14 - June 8, 2014. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast onstage below!

F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway wrestle with the sparks of art and the perils of creativity - and the personal destruction they can reap - in this smart and powerful new drama by Mark St. Germain set amidst Hollywood's glittery backdrop. In 1937, the two reunite for a final night at the notorious Los Angeles resort villa, the Garden of Allah. A humorous and heated exchange ensues about the cost of love, friendship and the professional price of being a writer.

Director David Arisco has assembled an all-star cast to bring this historical dramatic fiction to life. Carbonell Award-Winning Actors Tom Wahl (I Am My Own Wife, The Mystery of Irma Vep, Murderer, Picasso at the Lapine Agile) and Gregg Weiner (Making God Laugh, August: Osage County, Red) will star as F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway, respectively. Orlando-based Actress and Actors' Playhouse Newcomer Jennifer Christa Palmer (Private Lives, Romeo & Juliet, A Midsummer Night's Dream) plays Miss Eve Montaigne, a studio assistant assigned to keep Fitzgerald on schedule for his latest screenplay and off the sauce.

The creative team for Scott and Hem includes Gene Seyffer (Scenic Design), Ellis Tillman (Costume Design), Gerard Kelly (Wig Design), Paul Homza (Fight Choreographer), Mitch Furman (Sound Design), Luke Klingberg (Lighting Design) and Carl Waisanen (Stage Management).

"Hemingway, Fitzgerald, 1937 Hollywood. Who wouldn't want to get a glimpse into the words and lives of these two literary giants?" said David Arisco, Actors' Playhouse artistic director and director of Scott and Hem. "This play explores their long 'friendship,' what fueled it, what made these men so close yet such competitors. It's a marvelous new script by Mark St. German, an American master of historical dramatic fiction, that's funny, powerful and incredibly insightful."

Preview night tickets on the first Wednesday and Thursday are $35. Tickets for weeknights and matinees are $40, and on Friday and Saturday evenings $48. The theatre offers a 10 percent senior discount rate the day of performance and $15 student rush tickets 15 minutes prior to curtain with identification.
