Theatre Arts Productions (TAP) Launches TAP SHORTS: A Festival of Short Plays

Theatre Arts Productions (TAP) will stage TAP Shorts, an evening of short plays written, performed and directed by up-and-coming artists. This festival will take place on Saturday, December 28 at 7:30 p.m. at Standing Ovation Performing Arts.

Catarina de Luca Figueiredo of Miami, Florida from New World School of the Arts has been named a 2020 National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) Finalist in Theater, the organization's highest honor. De Luca Figueiredo has been recognized for her artistic achievement and was selected by an esteemed discipline-specific panel of artists through a rigorous blind adjudication process. YoungArts award winners gain access to one of the most prestigious programs for emerging artists in the United States in which they will have opportunities for creative and professional development throughout their entire careers. Guests sampled Israeli wine and food, and soaked in the international photographic exhibition, “Humans of Tel Aviv, by Israeli artist/photographer Erez Kaganovitz.

Bailey Contemporary Arts (BaCA) is proud to present Large Scale Constructions by  Claire Satin, featuring an overview of the internationally acclaimed artist's large sculptural works primarily from the 1980's and 1990's. Satin has had an extensive exhibition and collections history in the U.S. and Europe and is known for her use of a vast range of different materials, mediums and environments to create  notion-challenging artwork. The exhibition will be on view from January 3 - February 26, 2020. The free opening reception is Friday, January 3 from 6pm-10pm during Old Town Untapped. Known as downtown Miami's resident Latin Jazz big band since 2006, Miami Big Sound Orchestra combines 21st-century big band jazz with Afro-Cuban and Brazilian music, funk and soul. Their repertoire includes original compositions by Rafael a?oeCalia?? Valencia, legendary Miami bassist/composer; Chino Nunez, GRAMMY Award-winning producer; and Jaui Schneider, former pianist/composer of Ray Barretto; along with classics from legends such as the great Mario Bauzá.
