Working with today’s most exciting performing artists, creators, and producers, we are looking for a SOCIAL MEDIA SPECIALIST to highlight the process and creation of performances. AMOC (American Modern Opera Company), founded in 2017 by Matthew Aucoin and Zack Winokur, was created to build and share a body of collaborative work. As a group of dancers, singers, musicians, writers, directors, composers, choreographers, and producers united by a core set of values, AMOC artists pool their resources to create new pathways that connect creators and audiences in surprising and visceral ways.



We are looking for an engaging collaborator who understands the dynamic social media landscape and can create strategic and relevant social content. You will need to be able to create within brand parameters and use archival materials as needed.



This is a virtual, part-time, hourly position with events occurring around the United States. The ideal candidate will live in the NYC area, as most performances occur there, and you would be required to attend rehearsals/events to capture content.



Qualifications:

Strong visual eye- skill in photography, film, or other visual aesthetics

Savvy with social media platforms and stays up to date with the latest trends

Experience digging into the metrics and suggesting ways to improve ROI

Great writing skills, with the ability to create captions and short copy. Must have strong grammatical skills and an understanding of universal style guides.



Responsibilities:

Own content calendar, create and manage scheduled posts and content

Create copy for social posts: Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, Twitter

Schedule and deploy posts

Track metrics and report back KPIs

Source/Create images as needed

Contribute to overall social media strategy

Most recently, AMOC served as Music Director at the Ojai Festival, the second ensemble and first explicitly interdisciplinary company to hold the position in the festival's 75-year history, resulting in 18 performances, and was critically acclaimed by the Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times and The New York Times. Past projects include Messiaen’s Harawi, The No One's Rose, a devised music-theater-dance piece; EASTMAN, a multi-dimensional performance piece contending with the life and work of Julius Eastman; Hans Werner Henze's El Cimarrón, which has been performed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the American Repertory Theater; a new arrangement of John Adams's El Niño; Were You There, a meditation on black lives lost in recent years to police violence; and With Care and A Study on Effort, which have been produced at San Francisco's ODC Theater, Toronto's Luminato Festival, and elsewhere. CAGE, a production of John Cage's music for prepared piano, was cited as the best recital of the year by The New York Times in 2018 and The Boston Globe in 2019. In its inaugural year, AMOC created the Run AMOC! Festival at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, MA. The company has appeared at Festival d’Aix, 92nd Street Y, Big Ears Festival, the Caramoor Festival, National Sawdust, The Clark Art Institute, and the San Diego Symphony. AMOC has been in residence at the Park Avenue Armory and Harvard University.
