Fine Arts Center Brings Back CITY AS A VENUE For Year Two Of Summer Arts Across The City

The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College will bring back “City as a Venue” after a successful inaugural presentation in 2021. Originally concepted to keep arts programming active and provide an outlet for the community during the pandemic, the FAC offered a summerlong series outdoors on campus and at various locations across the city. While COVID restrictions have lifted, and indoor programming is back, the City as a Venue line up will this year include both indoor and outdoor programming.

In 2010, the Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA) embarked on a $57 million renovation of the Helen Bonfils Theatre Complex. The project was broken into three phases, the second of which required the DCPA to embark on its first-ever capital campaign. “A Grander Opening” launched on June 5, 2018 with a goal of $17 million.

Pity+Fear (a travesty), the latest original show from Grapefruit Lab, is an intimate and darkly-comic modern Greek tragedy, exploring what it means to be alive, to tell the truth, and to change over time. Written and performed by Miriam Suzanne (JANE/EYRE, 10 Myths on the Proper Application of Beauty Products) with original live music by Josie Cool (An Antiquated Bluff, The Better Selfs), the story interweaves the three incompatible myths of a Greek princess Agraulos with personal stories from the two performers.
