Victoria Theatre Association (VTA) and the Arts Center Foundation (ACF) presented its 2010-2011 Community Report at today's annual meeting, held in the Mathile Theatre at the Benjamin and Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center.
"The 2010-2011 season was a year of many successes played out against the continuing backdrop of a difficult fiscal environment in the Miami Valley." says VTA/ACF Board of Trustees Chair, Pat McDonald. "President and CEO Ken Neufeld and his talented and dedicated staff team, our remarkable group of over 800 volunteers, and my fellow Trustees responded to all of the year's challenges with creativity and an incredible amount of hard work. The results in improved fundraising and increased audiences speak for themselves. As I pass the leadership of this great organization to incoming Chair Steve Miller, I would like to thank our audiences, donors, and various other stakeholders for their continuing support of the VTA/ACF and all the arts in the Miami Valley Region."The 2011-2012 Victoria Theatre Association and the Arts Center Foundation's Officers are: Chair, Steve Miller (C.H. Dean Inc.); Vice Chair, Frank Perez (Kettering Health Network); Treasurer, Ed Purvis (Emerson Climate Technologies, Inc.); and Secretary, Martha Shaker (Concept Rehabilitation). Newly elected trustees are Robert Duplain (Community Volunteer) and Wendy Lewis (Logos@Work). Richard Schwartz (WinWholesale) has been appointed as a Trustee Emeritus.The impressive $28,091,838 sum represents the overall total dollars spent by VTA/ACF and its audiences, including event-related spending by arts audiences including but not limited to ticket sales, restaurants, parking, merchandise sales and other expenses that revolve around attending and producing an arts event.

"Due to the hard work of our supporters, volunteers, sponsors, Board of Trustees and exemplary staff, Victoria Theatre Association and the Arts Center Foundation have been able to succeEd Strongly in what continues to be challenging economic times. We attracted new audiences to our landmark facilities and increased the number of partnerships we have with Miami Valley businesses and organizations. We also played a leadership role in the continuing re-vitalization of downtown Dayton. I am encouraged by what is ahead for 2011-12. We have an excellent program of productions and attractions, a work force that is focused on budget realities and possesses the creativity to find better and more efficient ways to operate, and a Board of Trustees that is committed to excellence in governance."Reaching 48,842 young people and adults through Education and Outreach programs including Physicians for Kids Discovery Series, PNC Family Series and Chase Broadway Education programs - Background on Broadway, Varsity Broadway, Backstage Broadway and the Circle of Life Summer Camp
The "Fueling Education" program offered free RTA bussing to over 1,600 students and teachers, making it possible for students and teachers to attend Physician's for Kids Discovery Series programs. The Convenience Stores of Speedway provided additional transportation funds for schools outside of Montgomery County.
VTA/ACF collaborated with over 35 local non-profit charitable, education, social service and arts organizations in a variety of ways from sharing employees to highlighting groups at performances.
VTA/ACF served 476,313 people in its facilities, including the Victoria Theatre, the Benjamin and Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center, Metropolitan Arts Center/Loft Theatre and Citilites Restaurant & Bar at the Schuster Center.
