Huntington Theatre Company Announces New Director Of Marketing

Michael Maso, Managing Director of the Huntington Theatre Company (Peter DuBois, Artistic Director; Michael Maso, Managing Director) has announced that Anne Rippey will join the company as Director of Marketing on January 2, 2019.

Bringing a successful track record of theatrical marketing on a national scale, Rippey will lead the Huntington's marketing and branding initiatives, including all sales and audience development campaigns, and will be central to the reintroduction of the soon-to-be-renovated and expanded Huntington Avenue Theatre. Rippey's appointment is the culmination of a national search conducted on the Huntington's behalf by arts marketing consultant Tom O'Connor, following the appointment of former Director of Marketing Temple Gill to the newly created post of Director of Public Affairs & Strategic Partnerships.

In her distinguished career spanning more than 20 years, Anne Rippey was most recently Chief Marketing Officer for Key Brand Entertainment (now The John Gore Organization) where she led marketing for their Theatre Division, including Broadway Across America, and their Interactive Division, including Broadway.com. Prior to this, she was the Founder & President of two New York-based theatrical marketing agencies: The Marketing Division ( TMD ) designed to be the central marketing arm for Broadway Across America's presenting interests nationwide, and Type A Marketing, designed to provide customized marketing campaigns for Broadway and nationally touring productions. Her clients have included such iconic brands as The Book of Mormon, Phantom of the Opera, Hairspray, and Green Day's American Idiot. A graduate of Harvard College, she returns to Boston where she began her career as a theatrical publicist.

Peter and I could not be more pleased by Anne's acceptance of this job at this critical juncture in our history, says Managing Director Michael Maso. We are at a thrilling stage as a company as we prepare to renovate our first home on Huntington Avenue, and continue the vibrant new work taking place every day at the Calderwood Pavilion in the South End. We know that Anne will make tremendous contributions to our senior staff and to the dedicated marketing team she will soon lead. We also express our gratitude to our Associate Director of Marketing, Meredith Mastroianni, for her capable stewardship of our marketing efforts in this recent period of transition, and look forward to her collaboration with Anne.

The Huntington has long been an anchor cultural institution of Huntington Avenue, the Avenue of the Arts, and will remain so on a permanent basis. Under the terms of an agreement with the City of Boston and real estate developer QMG Huntington, the Huntington recently assumed sole ownership of the 890-seat Huntington Avenue Theatre. It is in the nucleus phase of a major comprehensive fundraising campaign designed to refurbish and expand the Huntington Avenue Theatre into a fully-updated, modern venue and to expand the company's services to audiences, artists, and the community. The Huntington previously built the multiple-venue Stanford Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts in 2004, and operates it as a home for its new works activities and as a much-needed resource for other arts organizations serving the local cultural community.

Rippey will join the Huntington senior staff on January 2, 2019. For more on the Huntington Theatre Company, visit huntingtontheatre.org
