Columbus Symphony Chorus Holds Auditions 8/30

The Columbus Symphony Chorus will hold auditions on Monday, August 30, for the 2010-11 season. Auditionees should contact Chorus Master Ronald Jenkins through the Columbus Symphony web site to schedule an audition time. Interested parties can visit www.columbussymphony.com, and click on the "Auditions" link at the bottom of the page.
Each audition will last 8-10 minutes and consist of the following:1. The auditionee will sing a prepared piece of classical music to demonstrate voice and musicality. An accompanist is provided. Auditionees should bring a copy of the music for the pianist and a copy for the chorus conductor to follow, as well as for themselves. Memorization is not necessary.2. Each person will be given ear-training/testing (repeating intervals) and be asked to vocalize.3. Each person will be asked to sight-read, often a Bach chorale.Auditionees will be notified by letter the following week.For the 2010-11 season, the Chorus will participate in Columbus Symphony performances of Handel's "Messiah" on November 20 and 21; the 27th Annual Holiday Pops on December 3, 4, and 5; and the Verdi "Requiem," on March 11, 12, and 13, 2011. All listed concerts will be held at the Ohio Theatre.About the Columbus Symphony ChorusThe Columbus Symphony Chorus, under the direction of Chorus Master Ronald J.
