Tangent Theatre Company, in association with AboutFACE Ireland, announces their 3rd NEWvember New Plays Festival - a showcase of original plays by promising playwrights to be held at the Carpenter Shop Theater, their 50-seat performance space in the historic village of Tivoli. The NEWvember Festival will showcase these works over a four-day weekend, presented via rehearsed readings and featuring established actors and directors bringing these works to life.

This was the news that greeted Alice Eve Cohen after six months of doctor's appointments and concern over her feelings of lethargy and discomfort - and the alarming lump growing in her abdomen. Cohen's funny and frightening story was the basis for an acclaimed 2009 memoir that she has now adapted for the stage. What I Thought I Knew runs at the Kitchen Theatre from June 12 to 30, with preview performances tonight, June 12 and June 13 and 14. Opening Night is June 15, and the closing performance is on June 30.

The Gateway's 2013 season continues with "Young Frankenstein," June 12-29 at Bellport's Gateway Playhouse. Based on the movie of the same name, Mel Brooks' Tony nominated "Young Frankenstein" will be making its Long Island premiere at the region's oldest professional theatre.

The winners for the eleventh annual Cortland Repertory Theatre 'Pavilion Awards' were announced on Monday, June 10, at the national historic Little York Pavilion, home to CRT. The awards, sponsored by First Niagara Bank, recognize outstanding achievement in local high school theatre during the 2012-13 school year.

Bard SummerScape 2013 to Present THE MASTER AND MARGARITA Stage Premiere, 7/11-21

The Bard SummerScape festival in New York's Annandale-on-Hudson presents the world premiere of an original stage adaptation of The Master and Margarita (1937) by Mikhail Bulgakov. The Master and Margarita is widely recognized as one of the greatest and most beloved Russian novels of the 20th century. SummerScape's theatrical adaptation comes courtesy of visionary Hungarian director Janos Szasz in collaboration with Gideon Lester, Director of Bard's Theater Programs. It is also Szasz, whose previous stage adaptations of Bulgakov's underground classic have already "made it big" (Moscow Times) at both the Hungarian National and Moscow Art Theatres, who directs Bard's new production: an exploration of miracles, madness, and the magic of theater itself. The Master and Margarita will be presented in ten performances between July 11 and 21 in Theater Two of the Frank Gehry-designed Fisher Center, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, on Bard's glorious Hudson Valley campus.

Hangar Theatre kicks off its 2013 season on June 13th with Neil Simon's irresistible comedy Last of the Red Hot Lovers, which runs through June 29. Featuring a stellar cast including three Broadway favorites, this seminal work will be directed by Hangar Associate Artistic Director Jesse Bush. Last of the Red Hot Lovers had its original Broadway run from 1969-1971 and received four Tony nominations, including for Best Play. The Hangar production features the talents of Jordan Gelber (Broadway's Avenue Q, All My Sons, Elf) as Barney Cashman, Jennifer Cody (Shrek, Urinetown) as Elaine Navazio, Leenya Rideout (Company, War Horse, Cabaret) as Jeannette Fisher, and Natalie Walker as Bobbi Michele.

The 39th season of the Hangar Theatre includes a thrilling line-up of plays and musicals including a favorite farce, a Tony-winning musical, and two regional premieres and features an array of exciting Broadway talent. The season takes off with Neil Simon's Last of the Red Hot Lovers (June 13-29) followed by the premiere of a strikingly innovative concept of the Tony-winning best musical Gypsy (July 4-20). The regional premiere of Amy Herzog's critically acclaimed play 4000 Miles (July 25-August 3) is next, followed by the regional premiere of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play Clybourne Park by Bruce Norris (August 8-17).

In conjunction with the opening of the Box Office for the 2013 summer season, Cortland Repertory Theatre is also announcing 'CRT Week' from today, May 20 - Friday, May 24. During this week, the CRT Board of Directors and staff members will be offering open-house tours of the new CRT Downtown building at 24 Port Watson Street in Cortland, from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm each day. The tours will be 5-10 minutes and will showcase the completed offices and lobby, as well as future Grand Hall and Theatre which is under construction.
