Playwright Marco Antonio Rodríguez To Attend Opening Night Of BARCELO ON THE ROCKS

Raices Theatre Company, Western New York's premier Latinx theater production company, will host playwright Marco Antonio Rodriguez today, November 30th. Rodriguez will be attending the opening night of Raices' production of his play Barcelo on the Rocks. This marks the second time that Barcelo On The Rocks has received a fully staged production and the first time that the play has been produced in the English language. The play was first produced in 2014 by Repertorio Español and the original run was extended due to popular demand. Barcelo on the Rocks has been recognized as the winner of the MetLife Nuestras Voces playwriting competition and Rodriguez received an award for outstanding playwriting from the Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors (HOLA) for the play.

It's not often that a Broadway musical creates so much press and hype that almost every US citizen has heard of the phenomenon that is HAMILTON. The show that got it's start off Broadway at NY's Public Theatre has taken the country by storm. Still the hottest ticket on Broadway 3 years after it has opened, the touring production has been anticipated in almost every US National tour market for a full two years prior to it actually surfacing. This has created record breaking subscription ticket sales just so everyone could be guaranteed a seat for HAMILTON.

Second Generation Theatre Company, founded in 2013 by three Buffalo women, has found a new way for their theatrical productions to live on. The SGT "Costume Clutch," based loosely on the success of the NYC-based Scenery Bags, has raised the company over $2,300 since its launch in January.

Such a perfect blend of expert acting and captivating story telling is playing out in a play that would seem to have been exclusively written for this company. But while SIVE is a well known commodity on the other side of the pond, it's relative obscurity in the States allowed Buffalo's audiences to be sucked into the brilliant story.

The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and Shea's Performing Arts Center announced today a collaboration to present Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in Concert on Thursday, February 21 as part of the Harry Potter Film Concert Series. The concert will feature the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra performing live, to picture, every note from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and take place at the original "Wonder Theatre" that opened in 1926 as a movie palace. Audiences will be able to relive the magic of the entire film in high-definition on a 40-foot screen while hearing the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra perform John Williams' unforgettable score live. Producer Jeffrey Seller, Shea's Performing Arts Center, and Albert Nocciolino announce a digital lottery for HAMILTON tickets will begin in conjunction with the show's first performance (November 20) in Buffalo at Shea's Buffalo Theatre.  Forty (40) tickets will be sold for every performance for $10 each.  The digital lottery will open at 11:00 AM ET on Sunday, November 18 for tickets to the Tuesday, November 20 performance.  Subsequent digital lotteries will begin two days prior to each performance.

The American Repertory Theater of WNY presents the second production of the 2018-19 season with American playwright Sam Shepard's classic work, FOOL FOR LOVE. This will mark the first production in the new 545 Elmwood Avenue location. FOOL FOR LOVE runs November 1st to November 17th, all showtimes at 8 pm. The record breaking musical is as relevant today as ever, and the National Tour settled into Shea's Buffalo Theatre last night after it's launch in Syracuse, NY two weeks ago.
