This February THE GOLDEN GAYS Return to Blackfriars Theatre
Blackfriars Theatre has a jam-packed February with new events being held each weekend. Currently running through the 17th is the hit musical Ordinary Days by Adam Gwon, which CITY Newspapers hails as "a production that speaks to finding purpose and meaning in the everyday, mundane routine -- a message that desperately needs to be heard and seen." Tickets to Ordinary Days can be purchased by calling 585-454-1260 or visiting blackfriars.org/ordinary-days.
On February 9th at 2 p.m., the Hourglass Play Reading Series will mount the 3rd reading of their 18-19 Season: Lost Lake by David Auburn. This play follows the story of Veronica, mother of two, and Hogan, disheveled owner of the lakeside property Veronica is renting. Hourglass Play Readings are free and open to the public, with donations gratefully accepted at the door. Learn more about Hourglass and the play by visiting http://www.blackfriars.org/hourglass-play-reading-series-season.
On February 16th at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., Blackfriars is proud to present Drag Story Hour with Mrs. Kasha Davis. This event is completely free of charge and invites families to add a little sparkle to their story time. Drag Story Hour teaches love and acceptance, gives strength to kids who see themselves differently, and serves as a resource for parents who need support or want to learn more. This month's book will be "Pink is for Boys" by Robb Pearlman.
On February 18th at 7:00 p.m., Blackfriars will announce their 2019-2020 Season: a celebration of 70 years of artistry in downtown Rochester. Media and press are encouraged to book reserved seats with Megan Colombo by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 454-1260. Wine and appetizers from Nox Cocktail Loundge will be available beginning at 6:15 p.m.
On February 22nd & 23rd at 8 p.m., the Blackfriars Comedy Series will enjoy its second to last weekend of the season. Unleashed! Improv and Thank You Kiss will take the Blackfriars stage for two nights of comedy in a show titled unPRESIDENTed. Tickets are $12 pre-sale (by calling 454-1260 or www.blackfriars.org/blackfriars-comedy-series) and $15 at the door.
On March 1st & 2nd at 8:00 p.m., Hot Flashbacks, a Golden Girls Musical Revue will grace the Blackfriars stage. Headlined by NYC's The Golden Gays and with Mrs. Kasha Davis, this drag group will lovingly sing and dance you through some of the Golden Girls' most iconic moments. Tickets by calling 454-1260 or visiting www.blackfriars.org/golden-gays. General admission tickets are $25 with VIP tickets available at $35. VIP tickets include priority seating, Golden Gays token, and a photo meet and greet with the gals.
