The Jazz Ensembles of Mount Holyoke College present the 13th edition of The Big Broadcast! on Saturday, March 3 at 2PM & 7:30PM at Chapin Auditorium, Mount Holyoke College, in South Hadley, MA. Created and directed by Mark Gionfriddo, who is also onstage as "Matt Morgan", The Big Broadcast! is a re-creation of a live 1940's radio show featuring the Mount Holyoke College Big Band, Vocal Jazz, and Chamber Jazz Ensembles performing well-known tunes from the swing era and the American songbook. WWLP-TV meteorologist Brian Lapis is emcee "Fred Kelley" for his 11th consecutive season.

Shakespeare & Company is pleased to announce the return of Lovers' Spat, this year with a new twist. The popular performance will be hosted by internationally acclaimed comedienne Alison Larkin. Company actors and guest performers explore the complexities of love in staged readings featuring theatre's most notorious couples' loving, fighting, scheming and wooing. Lover's Spat is directed by Artistic Director Allyn Burrows and will be performed in the Elayne P. Bernstein Theatre on Saturday, February 17 at 7:00pm and Sunday, February 18 at 2:00pm.
Boston Ballet Presents PARTS IN SUITE

Boston Ballet's spring season opens with Parts In Suite, a program of works by three of today's most prolific choreographers: William Forsythe, Justin Peck, and Jorma Elo. The program opens with Elo's Bach Cello Suites with live musical accompaniment by cellist Sergey Antonov. In Creases marks the Company's debut in a work by New York City Ballet Resident Choreographer Justin Peck. Embarking on the second year of a five-year partnership with Forsythe, Boston Ballet presents the Company premiere of his Pas/Parts 2016. Parts In Suite runs March 9-April 7, at the Boston Opera House.
The Huntington Announces Winners Of 2018 Boston August Wilson Monologue Competition

Bishop Edwards of Snowden International School at Copley took first place on Monday, January 29, 2018 with his performance as Troy from Fences at the Boston Regional Finals of the August Wilson Monologue Competition, held for the eighth year by the Education Department of the Huntington Theatre Company, the playwright's longtime artistic home. Beyonce Martinez of Margarita Muniz Academy was named first runner-up and portrayed Vera from Seven Guitars; Antoinette Webster (Tonya, King Hedley II) of Codman Academy Charter Public School was named second runner-up. The three will receive a total of $850 in prize money, and the top two winners will be awarded an all-expense-paid trip to New York City where they will perform their monologues at Broadway's August Wilson Theatre in the National Competition on May 7, 2018. Airfare, hotel accommodations, workshops, and tickets to attend a Broadway production will be provided in collaboration with Kenny Leon's True Colors Theatre Company and Jujamcyn Theatres. The national competition is free and open to the public.

Dance Currents Inc. and Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra of Boston are presenting a concert of dance and music titled, "Gathering Light". The program is as follows:  'Santons', a dance choreographed by Kathy Hassinger, Artistic Director of Dance Currents Inc., to John Rutter's 'Suite Antique' played live by Pro Arte (Rebecca Plummer, piano, Steve Laven, cello and Sue-Ellen Hershman Tcherepnin, flute).  The dance is about the little saints or santons, clay figurines made in Provence. These depict French villagers rushing to the light of the nativity.  They were made during the French Revolution when the churches were closed.  Using the red clay of their own land, the people of Provence found a way to reinvent their religious icons.

The Handel and Haydn Society continues its 2017-18 Season with a program of the Bach Brandenburg Concertos Nos. 1-6 on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. at Sanders Theatre in Cambridge, MA followed by performances on Saturday, February 17 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, February 18, 2018 at 3:00 p.m., both at Jordan Hall in Boston.  Saturday's performance was added to the schedule due to strong popular for the Friday and Sunday performances.

New England Foundation for the Arts' Creative City Program Announces THE CHROMA LINE

The New England Foundation for the Arts Creative City program announces The Chroma Line, a public curated artwalk across the Franklin Footbridge in Allston (between Lincoln and Cambridge Streets). Produced by lead artist and architect Jillian Wiedenmayer, the project is a group mural painted by a team of artists to make the Franklin footbridge more inviting, safe-feeling, and community-involved.
