This concert features students under the instruction of Aliana de la Guardia ranging from talented youth performers, enthusiastic adult avocational singers, and professional singers. Readers of all ages are invited to help bring the words of Frederick Douglass to life. Each volunteer reader will recite different sections of the 10,000-plus word address Douglass wrote during American slavery in 1852. Although it's been 166 years since Frederick Douglass delivered his Fourth of July speech at a convention in Rochester, New York, the message is especially resonating during today's turbulent political era.

Violinist Annie Rabbat Named Concert Master For Boston Lyric Opera Orchestra

Music Director David Angus announced today that violinist Annie Rabbat has been named the Boston Lyric Opera Orchestra's new Concert Master. Rabbat has played with the orchestra since 2012 and served as its principal second violinist for several years. She has played featured solos for BLO--most notably in recent productions of The Merry Widow and Werther. Rabbat was offered the concert master position after a double-blind audition process this spring.

Mark Cortale, Producing Artistic Director of Provincetown's internationally known Art House theater, has announced that he has begun to search for a new summer location for 2019. Cortale learned last week that the twin 120-seat theaters at The Art House will be gutted by the property owner after the current summer season due to restaurant expansion plans. The news comes on the heels of seven consecutive seasons of remarkable success; thriving outposts of its famed 'Broadway @' music series in major venues across the country and abroad; and the recent announcement of its largest lineup of Broadway, comedy and music stars yet for its P-Town home.

Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) is pleased to announce that David Henderson, a veteran community engagement, marketing, and communications specialist for the non-profit field, will become the new Director of Marketing and Communications. In this role, which starts June 18, 2018, Henderson will oversee marketing, communications, and public relations for the theatre. He joins MRT's senior leadership team and will work closely with Executive Director Bonnie J. Butkas, who started in the fall, and Artistic Director Sean Daniels, beginning his fourth season at MRT.
