UNCSA Names Saxton Rose Dean Of The School Of Music

The University of North Carolina School of the Arts has named bassoonist and educator Saxton Rose as its new dean of the School of Music, effective immediately. Rose has served as interim dean of music since July 2020, including leading the school through the COVID-19 pandemic with an entire academic year of in-person instruction and performance.

Americans For The Arts Announces Artist Allentza Michel As Recipient Of 2021 Jorge And Darlene Pérez Prize In Public Art & Civic Design

Americans for the Arts today announced that Boston-based arts administrator Allentza Michel has been awarded the Jorge and Darlene Pérez Prize in Public Art & Civic Design, a first-of-its-kind national program established by the Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation. The award will include a cash stipend of $30,000, as well as additional support for Michel to participate in learning opportunities and discussion about her work with national leaders in the arts and other allied fields.

Following careful consideration of recent recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Tri-Town Health Department, and the BSO’s own team of consultants, including 9Foundations, Tanglewood will increase its attendance capacity to 9,000, accommodating an approximate 50% capacity level for all performances (typical capacity is 18,000), July 9–August 31.
