Franklin School for the Performing Arts Offers New Classes
The Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA) has announced it will offer new musical theater and dance classes on Thursday evenings. FSPA is also accepting applications for its Little Music School, specific to young children. All classes will take place at The School, 38 Main Street in Franklin.
FSPA will offer an introductory Musical Theater class for children in grades 1-3 on Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. Taught by Assistant Director Tracy Lane, this class will introduce young children to singing, acting and dancing techniques, emphasizing performance preparation.
FSPA is offering Dance for Musical Theater, Lyrical-Contemporary Dance and a strength and stretch class for two age groups, all on Thursday evenings and taught by FSPA's newest faculty member Casey Harkness. Taught by Jenny Oliver, Dance for Musical Theater focuses on jazz technique and character building through dance.
The Little Music School is currently enrolling for weekday mornings and afternoons as well as Saturday classes. In its 6th season, the Little Music School is a revolutionary music program that teaches children as young as 18 months to play the piano and explore the musical world around them. LMS classes are geared toward young children and held in a cheerful and colorful environment. Children enjoy playing together, moving rhythmically, singing and dancing, in addition to playing the piano.
Founded in 1985, FSPA brings all performing arts disciplines together under one roof, offering Music, Dance and Drama training to both students interested in serious study and those who enjoy the arts for recreation. Registration at FSPA is ongoing throughout the year and new students are welcome to visit and attend a trial class. Beginners are welcome in all programs.
