Sierra's acting is a bit bland in my humble opinion...I don't know if she'd have enough fun with this, I almost feel like she'd redo her Christine Daae.

I actually think Kelli O'Hara would be an inspired choice. She's around the age that Nicole Kidman was in the film, and it could show off a different side of her than we're used to!

Rebecca Naomi Jones and Ben Walker were the leads in the presentation of the material this spring. Not sure if they're continuing with the workshop that's going to start later this month.

Evan Rachel Wood and Darren Criss may be my dream casting for this - but I can also see Laura Osnes and Jeremy Jordan depending what they do with the music.

i think it is more likely this will be a star vehicle. Tons of celebrities will bite at this
"

I'd actually be surprised if any major celebrity wanted to do this. The original film is iconic and the film performances are hard to top. Why be compared?

This is one musical I would give up Jenny Craig/Light & Easy and my gym membership to try and save $s to squeeze into the cattle class on Qantas .

Actually I'm very skinny but have to find some way to stretch that pension a little[a lot] further if I want to see this-would a telethon from India help?

Ben Walker? That's way more interesting than the dreamcasting options. Though if you were going with nontraditional casting, I'd prefer Christian as a POC to avoid yet another prostitute played by a WOC.

Aaron Tveit & Karen Olivo will be leading the Developmental Lab - two great choices.

Wow, Olivo will be magnificent. I hope she makes her Broadway return in this. Now I don’t want to see anyone else in the role.

I'm glad they're choosing the "sing the **** out of this" route.

How likely is it that Karen continues with the piece? I'd LOVE to see her in this on Broadway

Personally, I'd rather see Jeremy Jordan over Aaron.

I'll take Moulin Rouge over another rearrangement of the Berlin or Gershwin estates. Or a hackneyed bio-musical about a singer/musical group with their music shoehorned into the plot. Or, honestly, a bad new musical.

There's nothing wrong with a show that uses pre-existing music as long as the end result is *good*.

TOTALLY AGREE!!!!!!

Amazing!  I met Aaron when he was doing Company, what a sweetheart.  He is so amazing and I have been waiting for him to come back to Broadway, I hope it happens!!

Jeremy Jordan has been lost to television forever, as he said that was always in goal. I doubt he will ever do a Broadway role again, Perhaps a concert here or there, or a show at the Hollywood Bowl. Sad.

As much as I love theater, I'm admittedly not up on the process/timeline of bringing a show to Broadway. How long does it take for a show to go from the lab stage to Broadway? Obviously this is assuming it makes it, but I think with Moulin Rouge it's a reasonable assumption that it's the goal. Would this come in 2018-2019?

It'll be premiering in Boston next summer.

June 2018 at the Colonial Theatre

I’m a supporter of any Timbers show and Olivo and Tveit are just the cherry on top! Hopefully both of them continue with the show.

The Colonial Theatre is opening its doors again! To me, that’s even bigger news than the show. I’m so glad this historic theatre was saved and will once again be home to a pre-Broadway run.

So excited about this - since I live in the area I'm definitely going to be keeping an eye on seeing this while it's here.

The timing on this is kinda perfect for a trip to Boston: run begins at the end of June which is when Jagged Little Pill is scheduled to run (and I'm sure there will be extensions)!

Loved the movie. Love the casting for the musical. Love the fact that it’s premiering in Boston at the Colonial. It’s been years since I’ve seen anything in that theatre. I have a feeling I’ll be seeing this multiple times.

While possible, remember that Olivo is due to perform in Fun Home in Wisconsin at some point in fall 2018. I'm guessing she agreed to a summer Boston run because her 2 kids might have school off during that time. She talked several times about missing them and her husband during the Hamilton Chicago run.
