My favorite part about the terrible cover is that apparently several of the characters are time travelers because they would not all be there together at the same time
any good female duets from specifically the last 10-15 years or so? any trios or slightly larger group numbers that are female-only (like Mama Who Bore Me or Matchmaker or Mama I'm a Big Girl Now)?

yes but my question is why was that the intent? it doesn’t make sense to me
Pre-1920s Songs May 6

i’d imagine OP may have a friend in the music department that may record the track for free as a favor.
the song i thought of was Ah! Sweet Mystery of Life from 1910. i do find the categories a little strange though, only one song from 1920-1970, which includes the entirety of the “golden age” of musicals from 1943-1959?
Desperately Seeking Susan Musical Disaster May 6

i used to have a copy of a live audio recording (it must have been a bootleg i guess? but the audio was very high quality so maybe not) and thought the performances were fun but i was mostly confused as to like... why it existed? like, why the songs of blondie with that movie? was the only connection that they were both from the 80’s? i’ve only seen the movie one time but didn’t remember blondie even being on the soundtrack. maybe a score using madonna songs would have made more sense since she

very odd that wikipedia lists his name as Alexandra which is definitely a woman’s name
leading vs supporting isn’t always accurate when it comes to billing, hence why actors are often petitioned to be in the opposite category

i would be flabbergasted if this revival wasn’t recorded. mixed reviews notwithstanding, it would just seem strange for a Broadway revival of a Rodgers + Hammerstein musical NOT to receive a recording.
the best supporting actor awards at the oliviers used to be gender-neutral and for the 25 years or so that they were combined, the ladies won about 4 more times than men. i don’t like the idea in general tbh but i agree that usually imo women have better characters in musicals.
as for Alex Newell, when i watched Glee Project it mostly seemed like she was cisgender boy and was kind of a drag performer in a way. this was changed on the show, originally she was basically a drag
i saw the title of this thread and thought of Lea Michele. why will no one cast her? could she really be that difficult?
edit; also that blog is terrible

this thread gave me an interesting idea: a version of Hairspray set in an alternate reality where all the characters originally played by white actors are instead played by black actors and vice versa for the black characters. i think that would be kind of fun. Amber Riley could play Tracy!

almost like how the Gypsy Robe is named after the same exact type of thing the woman was named after. neither one was named in order to offend a migrant European race of people.

exactly, why do some people think on this thread that her name was actually Gypsy? Her name was Rose Louise Hovick, Gypsy being a nickname I assume given to her becaus
