I’m listening to it now, but holy sh*t MERYL. Her “It’s Not About Me” is spectacular.
I was happy to hear they changed the tag for the reprise of “Changing Lives”. Wasn’t in the mood to hear J*mes C*rden I say the original line.
I feel like Kidman’s rendition of “Zazz” will pop once you have the visual.

I think it’s just for the trailer. The first trailer used a version of “Tonight Belongs To You” that doesn’t match the soundtrack version.

I agree that the material isn’t typically up Oscars fodder...but I think what helps is that it’s one of the few films this year that isn’t painfully depressing. If voters want a lighter but still heartfelt option, this could be it.

I had this thought while watching Laura Benanti’s concert this weekend, but assumed we wouldn’t get another major production soon. I think she could be quite the excellent Baker’s Wife. Others that jumped to mind were Carmen Cusack or Jessie Mueller.
Would love to see someone like Hailey Kilgore or Denée Benton as Cinderella.
Audra as The Witch would be perfect.

I was completely blown away by Kerry Washington’s voice.
I know she had done some early workshops of IN THE HEIGHTS, but I was still shocked. Shame that’s all she really sings.

SLAVE PLAY is now the most nominated play of all time with 12, beating the record set by the ANGELS IN AMERICA revival (which THE INHERITANCE tied at 11).
I wish Paul Alexander Nolan could’ve been part of the SLAVE PLAY love.

The rules are all fake, but Whoopi’s Tony is a perfectly legitimately way to win and be included in her EGOT. She was a producer and there were 3 other shows that could’ve won. It’s a competitive Tony.
