Howard County Arts Council Seeks Artists for Head StART in ART Residencies

Visual and performing artists are needed for residencies for the Head StART in ART program for the 2012-2013 school year. Residencies will take place at the Ellicott City Head Start Center or the Tubman Head Start Center in Columbia.

Baltimore Playwrights Festival Continues with LETHAL INJECTION, Now thru 8/5

The Baltimore Playwrights Festival continues its Thirty-First Season with tonight's July 20th opening of Lethal Injection, by Michael Reimann, at The Vagabond Players, 806 South Broadway, Baltimore, Md (410-563-9135). Directed by Larry Pinker, Lethal Injection runs through August 5th, with performances Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased on-line at www.vagabondplayers.org, or at the door.

Spotlighters Theatre - Young Actors Academy is thrilled to announce it's eighth year, providing an intensive theatre program for Middle and High School students, and an introduction through creative play for Lower School students to the FUN-damentals of theatre and acting. This year the High School Academy will present William Shakespeare's MACBETH. The Middle School Academy will tackle Shakespeare's comedy of mistaken identity - Two Gentlemen of Verona. And the Lower School Academy will be presenting a devised work, created using shared and common themes.

Laurel Mill Playhouse, located at 508 Main Street in historic Laurel, MD., presents GUYS AND DOLLS, a musical fable of Broadway, based on a story and characters of Damon Runyon, music and lyrics by: FRANK LOESSER, book by: JO SWERLING and ABE BURROWS, and presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI), directed by Jocelyn Knazik, choreographed by Hannah Mollerick, music director Stu Knazik and producer Patti Knazik.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) presents another installment of the Laugh Station series. The Laugh Station series debut in January of this year and the upcoming Laugh Station: Papaya marks the third new show in the series. Maryland Ensemble Theatre will present Laugh Station: Papaya as part of its MET-X series, created to expand the collective horizons of the MET ensemble and its audience. Performances are July 27 and 28 at 9pm and July 28 at midnight at Maryland Ensemble Theatre (31 W Patrick St. Frederick) located in the historic FSK Hotel. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased by phone at (301) 694-4744, online at marylandensemble.org, or in person at the MET box office. The show is intended for mature audience only.

Directed by Anne Shoemaker,Following Sarah runs through August 26th, with performances Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 7 p.m. There will be two Thursday performances on August 9th and August 23rd at 8 pm. Opening weekend all tickets are $10.00, all other performances are $12. Tickets can be purchased on-line at www.fpct.org, or at the door.
