ROBIN HOOD: OCCUPY SHERWOOD Premieres at Frederick Community College, 8/10

The world premiere production of Robin Hood: Occupy Sherwood - the tale of the original caped crusader and his band of 'merry men' sticking it to the one-percenters is coming to the JBK Theatre at Frederick Community College (7932 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick) from August 10th through the 18th. The show is produced as part of Maryland Ensemble Theatre's (MET) annual summer outreach program in partnership with The Ensemble School, Frederick Community College and Hood College. Written by local talent Sarah Shulman and directed by Julie Herber, Robin Hood: Occupy Sherwood presents a new take on the classic legend that will entertain the whole family.

Starting October 6, Imagination Stage brings back its popular show for the very young:Mouse on the Move. This show, called "ridiculously adorable" by Our Kids, had its world premiere production in January 2012 at Imagination Stage, making it the theatre's 35th commissioned new work for children in Imagination Stage's 33 year history.

Scharf's plays have appeared across the USA and internationally, garnering numerous awards.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) presents another installment of the Laugh Station series. The Laugh Station series debut in January of this year and the upcoming Laugh Station: Papaya marks the third new show in the series. Maryland Ensemble Theatre will present Laugh Station: Papaya as part of its MET-X series, created to expand the collective horizons of the MET ensemble and its audience. Performances are tonight, July 27 and 28 at 9pm and July 28 at midnight at Maryland Ensemble Theatre (31 W Patrick St. Frederick) located in the historic FSK Hotel. his is the last week for director Michael Spellman's The Holdup, now at the Spotlighters Theater (www.spotlighters.org). I caught up with actor Frank Vince who portrays "The Outlaw" in this "inventive, picaresque play that mingles humor and sentiment," as noted on the Spotlighters website. I've had the opportunity to review Frank's work in the past, such as his performance as Roy Cohn in Angels in America, and have "strode the boards" with him when I played Jimmy Tomorrow to Frank's Rocky in the Fells Point Corner Theater production of "The Iceman Cometh' this past winter.
