Way Off Broadway to Present SPAMALOT
by BWW News Desk - July 08, 2016
The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre has become known for not only its productions of classic Broadway musicals but its part in bringing a number of area and regional premieres to the Frederick stage. In 2009, Way Off Broadway was one of the very first theatres in the country to receive the rights to produce The Wedding Singer, an 80's inspired musical comedy based on the Adam Sandler film. In recent seasons, the theatre, the Frederick -area's only year-round professional producing theatre, has produced several movies-turned-musicals. In fact, the 2013 Season was named "Hollywood Meets Broadway," all of the shows having been hits on the silver screen and Broadway stage.

by Jack L. B. Gohn - July 05, 2016
Hairspray is, in fact, a great raspberry blown in the face of realistic expectations, a visit to a fantasyland where cruelty and meanness and class pretensions stand no chance. And we never get tired of watching that raspberry get blown.

Bravo Productions Presents SEUSSICAL JR. This Weekend
by BWW News Desk - June 08, 2016
The first question is WHY?  Seussical Jr. seems to be all the rage this season in our area, with schools at every grade level mounting the fantastic musical extravaganza of the favorite Dr. Seuss characters.  Distinctive about BRAVO's rendition is a return to the notion that musical theatre is fundamentally about story telling and the Cat in the Hat (Luke LaMotta) as the narrator weaves this tale as a "play within a play", where Horton the Elephant (Matthew Milam), Gertrude McFuzz (Cynthia Jacobson), Mayzie La Bird (Madison Sherman) the Sour Kangaroo (Josie Stein) of the Jungle of Nool interact with the citizens of Whoville, led by Mr. and Mrs. Mayor (Mimi Lemar/Will Sexter or Ava Klugerman/Jayden Armour) and their young son Jojo (Lexi Blank).  Horton, in discovering a speck of dust containing the tiny people called the Whos, also learns the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community.
