Annapolis Symphony Orchestra Announces Sold Out Opening Night

By:

The Annapolis Symphony Orchestra (ASO) will kick off its 2016-17 season in grand style with its annual Opening Night Celebration at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts on September 30 and October 1, 2016. The three-part celebration, which sold out on Monday September 12, includes a pre-concert cocktail reception, a symphony concert, and a post-concert champagne and dessert celebration where guests will mingle with the maestro, soloist, and musicians.

"This is the third Opening Night Celebration and that it sold out three weeks prior is due to an amazing concert featuring world-renowned violinist Midori, and a spectacular pre- and post-concert Celebration that is unlike any other event in Annapolis," says ASO Board Chair Karen Smith. Ticket sales for the event support the work of the ASO throughout the year and there are no other fundraisers or auctions at the Celebration.

A limited number of tickets is still available for the concert, which is a special opportunity to see Midori in the intimate setting of the Maryland Hall theatre. The "Lovers and Dreamers" concert will open with the Naval Academy Color Guard. Midori will play Beethoven's Concerto for Violin, followed in the second half by Berlioz's Romeo and Juliet: Love Scene and Kodály's Háry János. For concert tickets or to get on the Celebration waiting list, visit www.annapolissymphony.org, call the ASO at 410-263-0907, or visit the office in Room 204 at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts.
