What did our critic think of AGATHA CHRISTIE'S A MURDER IS ANNOUNCED at Searcy Summer Dinner Theatre?

There’s no place like Murry’s Dinner Playhouse—especially when it whisks you away from Little Rock and over the rainbow to the magical land of Oz. Directed and choreographed by Moriah Patterson, this charming production of The Wizard of Oz, based on L. Frank Baum’s timeless novel, comes to life with a generous helping of theatrical magic accompanied by the yummy buffet of delectable goodness.

It was the night of June 20th, 2025, and I had not anticipated what I was walking into. At the First Financial Music Hall of El Dorado, I experienced my first ever Juneteenth celebration with BOOSIE, and I assure you: I will be back for more. The crowd was loud, the drinks were flowing, and the night was over before I knew it.

What did our critic think of THE SOUND OF MUSIC at The Center For The Arts?

Oh what a beautiful sound that came out of the ASU Newport Center for the Arts when the Jackson County Community Theatre presented Rodgers & Hammerstein’s OKLAHOMA! this past weekend, June 20–22.

My favorite children’s show creators are back again with the newest FLURFFY saga at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts in Little Rock, and it’s blooming with magic! Written by the super talented Chad Bradford, FLURFFY’S SECRET GARDEN is the latest whimsical adventure starring everyone’s favorite pink fuzzy friend, and it’s everything you’d expect from this talented team: colorful, clever, and completely charming. Running through July 5, there are just two more Saturdays left to catch this FREE family-friendly show. So pack up your little explorers and get ready to giggle, dance, and bring home a crafted flower of your own. 

Are we truly a civilized society or are we merely pretending, ready to protect our own and destroy others the moment we’re provoked? That’s the sharp and biting question at the heart of God of Carnage, Yasmina Reza’s dark comedy now on stage at Arkansas Repertory Theatre in Little Rock through July 29. Under the keen direction of Zack Steele, this razor-edged play peels back the polished veneer of social etiquette to reveal the primal instincts lurking just beneath. 

We went downtown to The Rialto Theatre in Morrilton, and let me tell you that we were feelin’ suppertime vibes from the moment we stepped through the doors for their wickedly fun production of Little Shop of Horrors, running now through Sunday, June 29! 

One of my favorite things about The Weekend Theater in Little Rock is their fearless commitment to producing shows that make you think deeply, feel unexpectedly, and, at times, laugh through your tears.

What did our critic think of MAD HATTERS DUELING PIANOS at MAD House 101 Restaurant & Bar? The Mad Hatters Dueling Pianos gave us a night of laughs and nostalgia at MAD House 101 Restaurant Bar in El Dorado Thursday, June 5.

Laughter echoed through The Pocket Community Theatre in Hot Springs this weekend as Neil Simon’s Barefoot in the Park took center stage, bringing with it the warm, nostalgic charm of a classic American sitcom. Under the direction of Kevin Day, this production, which runs through Sunday, June 15, played like a delightful episode from the golden age of television: sharp, character-driven, and laugh-out-loud funny.

Nothing will get a mama more emotional than watching a child being wronged, and y’all, I was deep in my feels at THE PROM at Actors Theatre of Little Rock, which is running now through June 21. Directed by Caelon Colbert, this vibrant musical, with music by Matthew Sklar, lyrics by Chad Beguelin, and a book by Bob Martin and Beguelin, is based on an original concept by Jack Viertel.

I absolutely love the Ozark Mountains! There’s something peaceful yet invigorating about their rolling beauty, so anytime I get the chance to head that way, I take it. It didn’t take any convincing for me to make the trip to Mountain Home to check out the Twin Lakes Playhouse production of Laura, now running through Sunday, June 15. 

Are you ready to get a little teary-eyed? Driving Miss Daisy is playing at Murry’s Dinner Playhouse in Little Rock now through June 21. Under the direction of Roger M. Eaves, this Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Alfred Uhrey gently unfolds the evolving 25-year relationship between Daisy Werthan (Leigh Anne Ralston), a sharp-tongued, fiercely independent Jewish widow, and her patient, good-natured chauffeur Hoke Coleburn (Christopher Straw). This duo will get you in your feels! 

Mesmerizing. Electrifying. And that music, y’all! Arkansas Repertory Theatre in Little Rock knows how to kick off a season in style. If you haven’t seen ME AND THE DEVIL, written by their new Artistic Director Steve Broadnax III, now’s the time! Currently on stage at the Arkansas Repertory Theatre through Sunday, June 8, is the World Premiere of ME AND THE DEVIL, written and directed by the Rep’s new Artistic Director, Steve H. Broadnax III. Described as his “love note to the South,” the production pulses with blues, brims with drama, and drips with decadence—everything we love in a show. A few days before opening night, we had the privelege to get to know this powerhouse artist.

I had my first introduction to the Tuna series at The Pocket Community Theatre in Hot Springs last weekend, and I couldn’t have asked for a better welcome into this wildly funny, fast-paced world. With performances from May 16th to the 25th, GREATER TUNA by Jaston Williams, Ed Howard, and Joe Sears was a whirlwind tour through the quirks and contradictions of small-town Texas life, delivered with heart, hilarity, and a whole lot of quick costume changes.
