The first is considered a masterpiece of Russian literature. With it, Pushkin initiated the period of large, realistic and poetic novel. For the first time in Russian literature people appear here, which found themselves also in the society to thousands. Above all Eugene Onegin as a prototype of the superfluous man. The realism is reflected equally in the more than one hundred secondary characters.
Pjotr Iljitsch Tschaikowski composed the Opera Eugene Onegin with the subtitle of lyrical scenes, which was premiered on 29 March 1879 in the Maly Theatre in Moscow with a libretto of his brother, based on Pushkin's template.
