Cobb Energy Center Holds Kids Night on Broadway, 11/15

By: Nov. 12, 2010

For the first time in Atlanta, kids ages 6-18 can see a touring Broadway show for free when accompanied by a full-paying adult, when Kids' Night on Broadway comes to Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on Wednesday, December 1st.   Tickets go on sale Monday, November 15, 2010.

KIDS' NIGHT ON BROADWAY is The Broadway League's program where kids ages 6 to 18 can see Broadway shows for free when accompanied by a full-paying adult. The program makes theatre accessible, encourages theatre as a form of family entertainment, and builds larger audiences for the future.

This year's Kids' Night on Broadway show in Atlanta is CIRQUE DREAMS HOLIDAZE, an original musical extravaganza of ornaments that come to life when costumed characters perform astonishing feats to celebrate the holiday season with spectacle, imagination and whimsical dreams.  An international cast of 30 artists transforms into gingerbread men flipping mid air, toy soldiers marching on thin wires, snowmen daringly balancing, icemen powerfully sculpting, penguins spinning, puppets caroling and reindeer soaring high above a landscape of holiday wonderment.  Some holiday favorites accompany an original musical score with hundreds of spectacular costumes adorning a magical tree of dreams in a setting of gigantic gifts, colossal candy canes and 30-foot towering toy soldiers.

Kids' Night Related Activities
In addition to seeing a Broadway show for free, Kids' Night participants will have the opportunity to interact with the cast of Cirque Dreams Holidaze and learn skills like juggling, balancing and stretching (activities are subject to change), will be offered from 6:45 p.m. - 7:15 p.m. in the theatre lobby.  Additionally, children will have a chance visit with Santa from 6:30- 7:30 p.m.  Doors to the theatre open at 7:30 p.m.

"We are delighted to offer Kids' Night on Broadway here in Atlanta at the Cobb Energy Centre with such a marvelous, kid friendly show as Cirque Dreams Holidaze, to do our part in creating a future generation of theatre goers," commented Michael Taormina CFE, Managing Director of the Cobb Energy Centre and member of the Broadway Theatre League.
