Satomi Blair, Emma Kikue, Among Cast of Primary Stages' GOD SAID THIS

Primary Stages announces casting for God Said This, written by Leah Nanako Winkler (Two Mile Hollow) and directed by Morgan Gould (Kentucky). Performances begin at the Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce St, New York, NY, 10014) on January 16, 2019 with opening night set for Tuesday, January 29, for a run through February 15, 2019. Tickets are on sale now and are available at primarystages.org.

Proudly developed during award-winning playwright Leah Nanako Winkler's tenure as part of the Primary Stages Dorothy Strelsin New American Writers Group, God Said This is a provocative and surprisingly funny new drama about five Kentuckians facing mortality in very different ways. With her mom undergoing chemotherapy, Hiro, a NYC transplant, returns home to Kentucky after years away, struggling to let go of the demons she inherited. Sophie, her born-again Christian sister, confronts her faith while tackling inevitable adversity. James, their recovering alcoholic father, wants to repair his fractured relationship with his daughters. And John, an old classmate and thirty-something single dad, worries about leaving a lasting legacy for his only son. Wry and bittersweet, God Said This is a portrait of five Godless and God-loving people finding that their struggles bring them together in unexpected ways.

The cast of God Said This will include Ako (Sayonara), Satomi Blair (Kentucky), Tom Coiner ("The Night Of"), Emma Kikue ("The Sinner"), and Jay Patterson (Inherit the Wind).

God Said This will feature scenic design by Arnulfo Maldonado (Dance Nation), costume design by Jessica Pabst (Marvin's Room), lighting design by Ryan Seelig (Everyone's Fine with Virginia Woolf), and sound design by M.L. Dogg (Downstairs).

The performance schedule for God Said This is as follows: Tuesday-Friday at 8pm; Saturday at 2pm & 8pm; Sunday at 3pm. Exceptions: there will be no performances on Saturday, January 26 at 2pm; Tuesday, January 29; and Tuesday, February 5. There will be an additional performance on Wednesday, January 23 at 2pm.

Single tickets for God Said This start at $80, with additional premium seating options offered. All tickets are available at PrimaryStages.org or by calling OvationTix at 212-352-3101. Group tickets are available by contacting 212-840-9705. Subscriptions for the Primary Stages 2018/19 Season are on sale now. Currently in performances is Primary Stages' second production of the 2018/19 season, Downstairs by Theresa Rebeck ("Smash," Bernhardt/Hamlet, Poor Behavior at Primary Stages). Directed by Adrienne Campbell-Holt (What We're Up Against) and starring Tony and Emmy Award winner Tyne Daly (Gypsy, "Cagney and Lacey") and Emmy Award nominee Tim Daly ("Wings," "Madam Secretary"), Downstairs runs through December 22, 2018. The season will conclude with Little Women, written by Kate Hamill (Pride and Prejudice), based on the novel by Louisa May Alcott and directed by Sarna Lapine (Sunday in the Park with George). Little Women will run May-June 2019.
