Twisting the pieces of hair as you braid them creates the illusion of a fishtail. Why?Because twisting the hair makes it appear as if it's on an angle, just like a fishtail, unlike the more up and down appearance of the hair in a traditional braid. Try one for yourself and let me know how it goes.
