Jack Stuppin's HOMAGE TO THE HUDSON RIVER SCHOOL Exhibition to Open 1/7 at ACA Galleries

By: Dec. 18, 2015

ACA Galleries is pleased to announce its upcoming exhibition of paintings by Jack Stuppin, Homage to the Hudson River School. We hope you can join us for the opening on Thursday January 7, 2016 from 6-8pm. A 114-page, full color catalogue will be available with an essay by Donald Kuspit.

Jack Stuppin's vibrant, undulating landscapes are passionate reactions to nature and ardent appeals for environmental consciousness. Nature is the soul of his art. Stuppin's conception and execution are highly individual. Using thick impasto, energetic brushwork and brilliant colors he has created his own particular style.

Born 1933 in Yonkers, New York, he attended Columbia College from 1951 to 1955 where he received art instruction from Peppino Mangravite. He studied painting at the San Francisco Art Institute from 1967 to 1971 under the tutelage of William Allan, Jay De Feo, Sam Tchakalian and Franklin Williams.

His artwork is in numerous museum collections including Butler Institute of American Art, Youngstown, OH; Crocker Art Museum, Sacramento, CA; De Young Museum, Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, San Francisco, CA; Fine Arts Museum of New Mexico, Santa Fe, NM; Luther Burbank Center, Santa, Rosa, CA; New Britain Museum of Art, New Britain, CT; Oakland Museum of California, Oakland, CA; San Jose Museum of Art, San Jose, CA; Sonoma County Museum of Art, Santa Rosa, CA; Art Museum of South Texas, Corpus Christie, TX; United States Department of State, Art in Embassies Program; Washington, DC and Yale University Art Gallery, New Haven, CT, among others.
