The High Line is a 1.45-mile-long elevated rail structure set to open in 2008 as a public open space. Running through the West Side neighborhoods of the Meatpacking District, West Chelsea and Clinton/Hell's Kitchen, it was built in the 1930s to remove dangerous trains from Manhattan's streets. No trains have run on it since 1980. Friends of the High Line (FHL), a community-based 501(c)(3) non-profit group, formed in 1999 when the historic structure was under threat of demolition. FHL is currently working with the City of New York to transform the structure into a park. The High Line south of 30th Street was donated to the City by CSX Transportation in 2005. The team of Field Operations and Diller Scofidio + Renfro is now at work on a design for the High Line's public landscape. Construction began in spring 2006. The first phase (Gansevoort Street to 20th Street) is projected to open in 2008. For more information, and to see designs for the new park, please visit www.thehighline.org.

The Rewind Show
with live performances and celebrity DJs

Doors at 10:30pm, Show at 11:00pm
$20 at door
RSVP to info@4kent.com
The Rewind Show is a vision we have had for as long as we have been in the business of night clubs and event planning. We are tired of the same concept that every night-club in NYC has been stuck with over the years and think that it's time to change the way to party! As we all know nothing can compare to a live performance and therefore we have created the Rewind Show! We want to bring an experience like no other by combining the live music of the 80's Rock & Roll era along with the best DJ's spinning the present hits. Every Saturday night, the Highline Ballroom will operate as a high-end night club to let people experience the Rewind Show. (http://therewindshow.com/)

Tuesday, July 13
LEE ROCKER of The Stray Cats
Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 8:00pm
$20 adv, $25 at door
In the early 1980s, Rocker, with The Stray Cats, helped reintroduce rockabilly to a mass audience. His solo recordings continue igniting the roots music fire. Rocker's powerful, original songs, amazing musicianship, and passionate and vibrant vocals, bring depth and substance to a style of music noted for its ability to get people up and dancing. And when Lee and his band perform live, they leave audiences begging for more. Since the release of his Alligator Records debut Racin' The Devil, bassist/vocalist/songwriter (and Stray Cats co-founder) Lee Rocker's solo career has been skyrocketing. Publications from USA Today to Billboard and The New York Times raved about the undeniable power and foot-stomping fun of Rocker's Americana-based roots rock.

Tuesday, July 13
KT TUNSTALL (solo acoustic)
*Hiro Ballroom*
Doors at 7:00pm, Show at 9:00pm
$20 adv, $25 at door
KT Tunstall is a sparkling new songwriter with Chinese blood, a Scottish heart, great legwarmers and a cool name - "well, it's got a bit more attitude than Kate which just says farmer's daughter to me," she laughs. KT celebrates classic singer-songwriting in the tradition of Rikki Lee Jones, Carol King and Fleetwood Mac with an articulate, accessible, immediate brew of rootsy sass, wistful quandary and after-hours atmosphere. The latest in a line of outstanding contemporary Scottish songwriters including Texas, Fran Healy, Teenage Fanclub and The Beta Band, KT's unique perspective offers a rare emotionally connecting intensity through it's gripping lyrical bite and heartfelt melody.

Wednesday, July 14
Lucy Woodward
with Richard Julian & J. Walter Hawkes
Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 7:00pm
$15
An exceptional talent born in London and raised in New York City's beloved Bronx, Lucy Woodward is already a young veteran of the music business. Lucy's song "Dumb Girls" from her Atlantic Records 2003 debut album was a Top 40 chart hit which allowed her to tour internationally, as well as garner her significant press exposure including a spot on "The Tonight Show." An award-winning songwriter, Lucy has written and recorded songs for several film soundtracks including most recently the Golden Globe-winning "The Blind Side." Lucy's second album, Lucy Woodward Is...Hot & Bothered garnered high praise from critics ("A steamy, string-kissed slice of retro British pop by a versatile singer/songwriter" proclaimed USA Today, while Billboard described how ""Lucy's a ball, equally appreciable for fans of melodic sing-along baubles and highbrow aficionados of finely honed musical composition. A sonic turnstile that flips through dreamy pop, jazz and bluesy bebop"). Starting out 2010 with a bang, Lucy signed with the legendary jazz label Verve Records, and has just released her third album, titled Hooked!. Produced by the legendary Tony Visconti (David Bowie, U2) along with contributions from Justin Stanley (Nikka Costa, Eric Clapton), Itaal Shur and Tim K. Friday, July 16
WILLIAM FITZSIMMONS
with Rosi Golan
Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 8:00pm
$20
William Fitzsimmons is one of the oddest people you will ever meet. Born the youngest child of two blind parents, William was raised in the outskirts of the steel city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Due to the family's inability to communicate through normal visual means, William's childhood home was filled with a myriad of sounds to replace what eyes could not see. The house was suffused with pianos, guitars, trombones, talking birds, classical records, family sing-a-longs, bedtime stories, and the bellowing of a pipe organ, which his father built into the house with his own hands. When his father's orchestral records were not resonating through the walls, his mother would educate him on the folk stylings of James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, and Simon & Garfunkel. By the completion of his youth and schooling, Fitzsimmons had become well-versed at a variety of instruments, at the minor expense of social standing, interactional skills, and a knowledge of proper shaving technique. William draws from those early folks stylings of his mother's music, and the embellished instrumentation of his father's. He is often compared to contemporaries Sufjan Stevens, Iron & Wine, and the late Elliott Smith, not only for his unique style and skill in writing and proclivity to deal with substantive and evocative subject matter, but also for his use of organic and colorful melodies and arrangements.
