"The Work of the Talent Agent" and their role in the theatrical and creative communities will be the focus of the January panel of The American Theatre Wing's Theatre Intern Group. The meeting will be held this coming Tuesday January, 24th at 6:30 PM, at the Manhattan Theatre Club Studios, 311 West 43rd Street – 8th Floor.

Panelists for the discussion will be Beth Blickers of Abrams Artists Agency, Val Day of the William Morris Agency, and Scott Metzger of Paradigm.

Beth Blickers is currently with the Abrams Artists Agency where she represents such writers, composers, directors and choreographers for theatre, television and film as Bill Cain, Craig Wright, Ricky Ian Gordon, Carey Perloff, Daniel Pelzig, Peter Pucci and Vincent Paterson. Prior to that she was an agent at Helen Merrill Ltd. and the William Morris Agency where she began work after graduating from New York University.

Val Day of The William Morris Agency represents playwrights and directors whose shows have been commissioned and produced by theatres throughout the world.  She has worked as a theatre director and producer for over 15 years and received her MFA in Directing from the University of California San Diego before becoming an agent.

Scott Metzger of the Paradigm Agency began his career as an assistant in the Voice-over Department. In less than a year he moved over to the Film, Television, and Theatre Department, and in 2003 he was promoted to Agent in the department. Scott works on numerous feature film and indie film projects, is responsible for various NY theatre projects, and covers episodic TV series. He is a graduate of Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, PA.

The American Theatre Wing's Theatre Intern Group creates social and professional development opportunities for young people who work in theatrical offices; enabling them to build contacts with their peers immediately upon starting work in the theatrical community. Monthly panel discussions on the many facets of the theatrical field offer opportunities for the interns to learn from professionals with 5 to 10 years of experience – long enough to be immersed in the profession, but not so far removed from the experiences of the interns themselves. Membership is open to all interns working in a theatrical office and annual dues are $10. For more information, visit www.americantheatrewing.org.

Current Intern Group members, and those wishing to join the group, can RSVP for the event by emailing theatreinterngroup@americantheatrewing.org, or by calling Stephen Abrams, Program Manger at 212-765-0606 x311. (Note: the panel will address the business of working as an agent; it is not a discussion of how secure creative work).
