Barrowman will Star in London Few Good Men with Lowe

John Barrowman will join Rob Lowe as one of A Few Good Men, which opens in its London premiere on September 6th at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket after starting previews on August 18th.

Lowe will play Lt. Daniel Kaffee, a lawyer who must defend a soldier accused of killing one of this fellow soldiers, while Barrowman will portray Captain Jack Ross, the role made famous by Kevin Bacon in the hit 1992 film that also starred Jack Nicholson and Demi Moore. SurAnne Jones has also been cast in the Aaron Sorkin play, which will be directed by David Esbjornson (The Ride Down Mt. Morgan, The Goat).

Recently, Barrowman reprised his star-making turn as Billy Crocker in The National Theatre's production of Anything Goes; he had originally made his West End debut in the role opposite Elaine Paige in 1989.  His many West End credits include Grease!, The Phantom of the Opera, The Fix, Hair, Aspects of Love, Miss Saigon, Beauty and the Beast and Chicago, and he has appeared in the States in two Sondheim shows--Broadway's Putting It Together and as Bobby in Company at the Kennedy Center.  He has appeared on TV on "Central Park West," and "Titans," and currently plays Captain Jack on the BBC series "Dr. Who."  Recently seen in the movie musical, De-Lovely, he will appear as the Lead Tenor Stormtrooper in the upcoming film version of The Producers.  His two solo recordings are Reflections from Broadway and John Barrowman Swings Cole Porter, his latest.

The original Broadway production of A Few Good Men opened at the Music Box Theatre on November 15th, 1989 to run for 497 performances. The play was directed by Don Scardino, and Sorkin (the creator and writer of TV's "The West Wing") received the 1989 Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding American Playwright.
