Almost three dozen stars joined founders Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore for "Broadway Barks 8!, which took place on Saturday, July 8th in Shubert Alley (located between 44th and 45th Streets, between Broadway and Eighth Avenue).

The event was a star-studded dog and cat adopt-a-thon benefiting New York City animal shelters and adoption agencies; it was presented by Broadway Care/Equity Fights AIDS and sponsored by the ASPCA, Loews Hotels, Donna Karan, Sherpa, and Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.
Gary Beach, Christian Borle, John Treacy Egan, Sutton Foster, Jenn Gambatese, Crystal Hunt, Beth Leavel, Nellie McKay, Judy McLane, Bebe Neuwirth, Kate Reinders, Angie Schworer, Josh Strickland, Russell Tovey, Jacob Young, the cast of Tails: The Musical, Lucie Arnaz, Michael Cerveris, Victoria Clark, Georgia Engel, Eden Espinosa, David Garrison, Shuler Hensley, Christian Hoff, Cheyenne Jackson, Cherry Jones, Carol Kane, Dan Lauria, Wendie Malick, Bob Martin, Sarah Paulson, Daniel Reichard, J. "Broadway Barks 8!" "will help many of New York City's shelter animals find permanent homes by informing New Yorkers about the plight of the thousands of "homeless" dogs and cats in the metropolitan area," state press notes. Last year's "Broadway Barks!" attracted an audience of more than 6,000 theater fans, pet owners, and animal lovers, and featured the participation of more than 24 animal shelters from the New York City area.
