Egyptian Soprano, Fatma Said was announced winner of the 8th Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition at the National Concert Hall last night. The Egyptian native competed against 47 finalists over the past week in Dublin, and last night she won the judging panel over with her performance. The winner commented just minutes after receiving the much sought-after prize, “I'm overwhelmed to be this year's winner. I've worked so hard over the past few months and the work has paid off. The talent in Dublin this week has been phenomenal; I can't quite believe that I'm the 2016 winner.”  The 24-year-old from Cairo was honoured at the National Concert Hall on Thursday night where a total of six finalists performed for the judges.  Said performed three arias on Thursday night accompanied by the Wexford Festival Opera Orchestra, conducted by Patrik Ringborg. Coming this February, Milwaukee Ballet and Artistic Director Michael Pink introduce their World Premiere ballet Dorian Gray. Based on the British 1980 novel by Oscar Wilde, Pink originally debuted another version of this story in Augsburg, Germany two years ago. This year in Milwaukee, PInk commissioned a new score by Philip Fenney, scenic and costume designs by Todd Edward Ivins, and returns Emmy award-winning Lighting Designer David Grill to envision the ominous story.. Grill will be at Super Bowl 50 on Sunday, February 7, and then 'after lighting Coldplay will light the Milwaukee Ballet.' This tour-de-force creative collaboration underscores fresh choreography by Pink to produce another full-length ballet performed for the first time in the Historic Pabst Theater over two full winter weekends. Company XIV  presents an adult only world premiere of SNOW WHITE, conceived, directed and choreographed by Drama Desk Award nominee Austin McCormick. SNOW WHITE runs Off-Broadway now through March 12, 2016 in a limited 7-week engagement at the Minetta Lane Theatre, located at 18 Minetta Lane between MacDougal Street and 6th Avenue in New York City.
