The Chicago Philharmonic Society announced today that Paul R. Judy, Board Chairman since January, 2012, has become Chairman Emeritus, and is being succeeded by Thomas J. Manning. The Philadelphia Music Alliance (PMA) today announced that The Roots, Ray Benson of Asleep at the Wheel, Cinderella, The Trammps, Andrea McArdle, and WOGL air personality Harvey Holiday will be added to the Philadelphia Music Walk of Fame as members of its Class of 2015. The new honorees - along with previously announced Billie Holiday - have 16 Grammy Awards and a Tony Award nomination among them. They will be formally inducted together October 26, 2015 during afternoon ceremonies along the Avenue of the Arts and celebrated that evening with a special grand gala event. The PMA will be working in conjunction with Avenue of the Arts, Inc., to make all of its fall events extra special. (more...)

The Board of Directors of the Memphis Development Foundation (MDF), which operates the historic Orpheum Theatre, will name the Foundation's newest capital addition the Halloran Centre for Performing Arts & Education in honor of President and CEO Pat Halloran. Halloran will have served the Orpheum Theatre for 35 years at the time of his retirement at the end of 2015. The Centre, a $14.5 million addition to the Orpheum campus, has long been a passion project of Halloran's. (more...)

Orchestra of St. Luke's (OSL) raised $800,000 at its 40th Anniversary Gift of Music gala, held at The Plaza Hotel on April 20th. Funds raised at the gala benefit OSL's artistic and Community & Education programs, as well as The DiMenna Center for Classical Music, New York City's first and only space dedicated to classical music rehearsal, recording, and education. The New York Pops family gathered at The National Arts Club on May 18th to celebrate the life of Ruth Henderson who passed away at her home in New Milford, Connecticut on February 25th 2015. In 1983, Skitch and Ruth Henderson founded The New York Pops. Chris Poe, President of The National Arts Club welcomed the guests and introduced James A. Read Board Chairman of the New York Pops. Many friends spoke of the dynamic, caring, beautiful and inspiring person that Ruth was. In 1991 Ruth established the PopsEd program, Kids In The Balcony, which provides free tickets to students for New York Pops Concerts.  Steven Reineke, music director of The Pops presented board member June Freemanzon, long time friend of the Henderson's with a framed photograph of one of the few pictures that exist of the two music directors of The New York Pops. Steven then sat at the the piano and played "Einsamkeit" a composition composed by Skitch Henderson for Ruth Henderson.  The afternoon was truly A Celebration of the Life of Ruth Henderson.
